Now the patio is finished my Mrs has deemed we need a couple of artificial tall plants/trees as a 'feature'.
Anybody have any experience/recommendations and/or decent place to purchase these?
Looking around 1.8m to 2m tall max.

why go artificial chris?
get a couple of matching olives
they make very pretty features and can be really easy to take care of if they are in the right position.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
Indeed, buy bay leaf trees they are very low maintenance.
That reminds me, many moons ago our admin girls sourced some new plants for the office and I've been religiously watering a tree next to my desk which cleaners always ignored and it had dry soil/compost. I think it was after five or six months I actually realised that it's artificial.. FML.

My neighbours had them outside their house all year round, in large pots, no problem.
If you live oooop north then I'm sure you could always fleece them in winter if need be
They looked really nice - 'architectural' as floella benjly-mosque used to say.
Im sure you can get more detailed advice from a specialised seller

Can't imagine a fine upstanding forum member such as yourself ever accepting a fake!

If you do decide to go artificial, a British company called Tree Locate is who you should talk to. I've done some work with them in the past designing boulevards in the emirates full of 20m tall fake trees - you are hard pushed to tell them from real ones tbh...
Chris, I’ve got two mature olive trees in my garden; in fact, right beside my patio. They’ve been there for five years and other than one winter, where they took a bit of a hit and needed some extra care in the Spring (cutting back and feeding), they have been fine and trouble free. They are actually relatively hardy.
I want an Olive Tree now Chris, see what you've done!

They had some in Costco a couple of weeks ago at really good prices.
I'd be really careful as they need protection in Winter. You might get lucky for years and then suddenly they'll be dead. They have really fine roots so when it freezes it affects them. Made worse if the pot is sodden.
I've had one in a pot (not large, ~400mm diameter) for 5 years or so. Haven't really looked after it but it has survived.
My mother has one planted in her garden by my father probably 10-15 years ago.
If you want artificial then Ikea have a decent range at good prices.
