One needs to go but which one?

First world problems I know but one of these really needs to go. Since picking up the explorer a while ago not much else is getting a look in. So I’ve decided one of the omegas needs to go, I’ve got it down to the seamaster 300 or the Speedy Tuesday? Would love to hear your thoughts and opinions. For the record I work as a firefighter and wear a G-Shock most of the time!!!

I was not overly impressed with the speedy Tuesday so sold it.
I have my SM300 master on today and love it. I think it's an under appreciated watch, especially on the Omega NATO. That's said the chronograph adds another complication to your collection so I would probably keep the speedy Tuesday in your shoes. Or sell both by an original Speedmaster Pro and pocket the change.

I would lose the Speedy Tuesday

Yep seamaster for me too, should be easy enough to replace in the future if you ever felt the need.

Id lose the chrono....as , I would find it hard to read easily!

We are all different though, so either the one you like the least..or the one which you wear the least? ( which would probably be the same one anyway!).

    Seamaster to go.
Speedy has chrono, a bit more character, a bit different from the others you have etc so keep that one

I'd sell the AT or the SM300. I'm not a fan of the AT with coloured text and there are many elements of the 300 that I don't like.

I’d sell the Terra! SM300 would be my second choice.

Which gets the least wrist time?

    Seamaster 300.

SM300 out of those Omega. It’s not even got a place in your watch box.

Or sell all three Omega and buy a really nice 16600 SD.

If it had to be an Omega I'd lose the AT as I don't much care for the date window, but I'd ditch the two at the top first so what do I know?

Agreed. Then you're left with a nice chrono, a no date diver, a gmt and the explorer.

But I know this game isn't logical.

As I don't like arrow hands, it would be Seamaster or Agua Terra.

I find the Speedy Tuesday a bit boring for some reason. In my collection, that would be the one to go.

HOWEVER... As a regular sufferer of "sellers remorse" I might advise getting rid of one that would be easier to replace (the 300 or AT) should you feel the urge!

I was a wholetime operational firefighter for 32 years and for 20 of those I wore my Datejust for work, it was my only watch until I started looking at this forum and I wore it 24/7. Therefore sell the G Shock and get that Explorer worn.

Think Speedy has place in that collection so I would say Seamaster

Either of the two on the right - the Explorer II is a purer, less fashionable Rolex GMT and all the better for it, and despite lacking the date, the Seamaster is more immediately useful due to the timing bezel, and to my eyes a much more handsome watch to boot. I definitely wouldn't get rid of the Speedy Tuesday - it's a future classic for sure and the lumed subdials make it uniquely useful among chronographs.

That's a nice selection of Rolex's and Omega's you've got there, mate! I would let the chronograph go only because I'm not particularly fond of chronographs.

  28. #28
Possibly not what you want to hear but I'd lose the BLNR.
The Explorer II covers off pretty much everything that the BLNR can offer you so removing duplication.
You've then got a chronograph (Speedmaster), diver (Seamaster 300), semi formal dress watch (AT) and the GADA (Explorer).
Plus, the BLNR flip will possibly see you come out with cash in the bank (whilst the bubble persists) but losing the AT is likely to be losing you a few quid - unless you bought incredibly well!

Do you have any other watches other than the G shock?

Because every collection needs a diver.

Keep the Speedie it's a classic chrono and likely a good investment.

Which means either the AT or the BLNR needs to go - neither of which are in your first post as options, I'm afraid.

But the BLNR just duplicates your Explorer from a functional perspective and the AT is, to my eyes, a retrograde step from the lovely previous version with vertical stripes and is superfluous in a collection that has a couple of more dressy options.

Agree. The AT is the most versatile watch I own. I’d part with the Explorer...

Firstly thanks for all the replies as much as it's down to me it's always good to get a different opinion and others thoughts. To answer a few points

    - At the moment the 300MC gets least wrist time
    - Definitely don't want to loose either the Explorer or GMT
    - The reason behind keeping the AT is its the only one with a plain bezel and probably the most comfortable
    - Only other watch I own is a 14 year old Tag F1, wear it at football (it's become a stupid tradition)

So leaves the Speedy and 300MC. Based on wrist time it looks like the 300 is on its way out, be a shame as I got it for a great price but wouldn't loose a penny on it.

Thanks once again for the replies

Based on your further feedback, I think you've made the right decision.

And please don't think it's a shame to be selling what you got at a great price - be happy you won't lose money! And it's not a rare piece so you could always buy again later if you have buyer's remorse.

I’d get rid of the Speedy Tuesday whilst they’re still attracting strong money, same for the BLNR and
SM 300. Frankly I wouldn’t own any of these three, I just don’t like them.........others will disagree.

That leaves the Explorer and the AT. I’ve owned an AT and I’ve owned a modern Datejust.......and I much prefer the Datejust (probably for the wrong reasons) so I’d give the AT the elbow too.

With the money you’ve raised from selling you could buy a nice Datejust and a nice Speedy Moonwatch. That leaves you with a collection based on classic appeal rather than current fashion........and we all know class doesn’t go out of fashion.

I’d be amazed if you follow my advice.

This is why these forums are amazing and very dangerous at the same time. Out of interest how do you think the figures would stack up on this bearing in mind I'm very close to my limit funds wise!!

Personally it would be the SM300 to go. Easy enough to replace.
