    New Limited-Edition Steinhart

This just popped up in my email inbox - make of it what you will. The Barrique:

Limited to 111 pieces, with a certificate signed by Gunter Steinhart.

More details HERE, although the website appears to be down at the time of posting.

Looks like it's from an Argos catalogue.

They're not showing any originality. Just humping others designs again.

Rm052 dial type in a rm067 case style.

Horrible ! I suppose it might appeal to a teenage goth, not sure there are any members of this forum who would fit that category

Suspected as much. At least before they were inspired by tasteful models!

Just who is this watch aimed at, some 50 year old in leathers on a Harley Davidson or a 15 year old child - I'm not really sure.

It certainly won't help Steinhart's reputation on here if they start putting out joke watches.

I think they have cocked up this time.

Skull motifs have been very fashionable for quite a while, not just with bikers and goths. In fact I’d say they might be a bit late to the party (as Verv suggested) but I’d imagine it will sell out very quickly.

So much no. Unless you are the bass player in a finnish death metal band, in which case it is quite cool.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

    Awful looking H Samuel special

    Horrid.

The skull & bones motif on the strap could also be viewed as rather too close to another, more sinister historical version. Somewhat, ahem, careless for a German company, no?

    Barrique as in barrel shaped.

Yes, I do own a red metallic Range Rover. I’ll get my (Alexander McQueen) coat.

If that was released there would be a waiting list for it.

I can only find one redeeming feature of that Steinhart: it's a limited edition so there won't be many around!

Does it have a compartment to store Pez, or maybe a small pencil eraser?

  33. #33
Montegrappa the pen makers also do some weird looking watches like that. I suppose Steinhart specialise in producing watches on a budget similar to ones that go for a great deal more and this is no exception. I think Steinhart have a fairly big and loyal following not just here but across Europe so my guess would be these will sell fairly well.

Not that I would buy one for some reason I quite like it (Needs lume on the skull though)

Death metal is no-nonsense and all about performance, and you'd want to spend that kind of money on music gear anyway, so I'd sooner expect a G-shock (the GLS-series with the low-temp LCD in the case of Finland I suppose). If you're a drummer or a (bass) guitarist, you'd want your watch to be as lightweight as possible anyway, and I speak from my own experience here.

As for the watch, I don't like it, but I don't think it's too bad for what it is, except for the strap, which clashes badly with the design aesthetic of the watch.

I follow them on insta, they've been doing teaser for a week about something, evidently this. Have to say, that thing is utterly repugnant, an abomination, what are they thinking.

Now I would have that Pirate one, if I could afford it, being an ex-submariner.

It says out of stock (and did when I received the email yesterday), so does that mean it's not yet for sale or that TZ'ers are completely out of touch with other watch buyers, who've snapped them all up already?

    Personally, I think it's dreadful!

More likely TZ'ers are completely out of touch. They have a loyal following like most micro brands so all they really needed was 111 loyal customers to snap them up which probably wasn't too hard a task.

I wouldn't say "out of touch" but there is a heavy bias towards conservative sports watches here. Of course, something a little more off the wall gets applauded from time to time, but being liked has a strong positive correlation with price.
