    Red Spider Mites

I seem to remember red spider mites being anywhere and everywhere when I was little. Now I can't remember the last time I saw one. Have they declined, or is it just my deteriorating eyesight?

I remember when I was young we had a terrace that was always covered in them every summer . During the course of our time at that house they disappeared (we moved when i was 16) , don't know if they were killed off by DDT or something? Anyway, agree they seem to have gone.

It might be linked to the massive decline (75% fall) in flying insects which has been reported recently.

We used to call them brick spiders because they always seemed to be on masonry.
I’ve got some now on the lid of my water butt,
As others have said I’ve not seen any for some years.
Perhaps current conditions are favouring them.
