5513’s back from a pamper and spa 😊

I had a chat with Duncan at Genisis a few weeks ago and decided to send my 5513 off to him for a strip, service and ultra clean.

Back this morning, tests proves running smoothly and I could not be happier.

Serial pointed towards a 1969 which is what sold it to me but it is actually a 1970 as confirmed by Duncan, no hardship though. Hands and dial are original and perfectly matched, but the clean has brightened the ‘pip’ up (it is not quite as bright in the flesh) which is a shame, it was perfectly in tone with the dial before.

Thing is, I am not wearing it as I should and keep thinking should it stay or should it go now. ??

I keep leaning towards ‘go’ but I know I would regret it like hell,

    Pitch

Lovely watch and money in the bank, mate. Keep it.

PS I thought you were older.

That is a stunner and the type of watch every collector wants.

Seriously, if you are going to sell talk to the likes of Mike Wood and Haywood first and get a real feel for the type of price to ask. With the work done and that bracelet this has to be a top dollar watch.

Hands, dial, insert, bracelet, case - it is a collectors dream. The other way of looking at it is if you sell you will seriously struggle to replace it.

Future investment (even though we all know watches aren't investments)

Keep it. Easy decision unless you need the cash but as said - get a proper valuation. Lovely watch BTW

If you sell, just remember it will cost you more to get another.

As for value I would think £8.5k would not be to far off the mark.

..... keep it unless you really need the funds.

If you don't need the money don't sell it.
Good ones are getting harder to come by without paying through the nose.

Look into my eyes, not around my eyes. Look into my eyes. If you sell it, a few years down the line you will be thinking 'why the hell did i get rid of that'
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Just too lovely to sell, I'm sure you would regret it. Keep it and enjoy it even if it is occasionally

Going to go against the grain here and say that you should get rid. You have far nicer and more practical watches in your collection.

Wow, how much nicer and more practical can you get than a 5513.

Very nice, but has lost a bit of its crispness through polishing.

I'm not in a position to buy something as nice as that at the moment so if I had it in my collection I would keep it.
However if you have enjoyed the experience of owning it and now want something else and could afford it just go for it.

A difficult decision to make but I'm a firm believer that if the love isn't there it's best to part company. Nice watch btw and a lovely insert.

Another vote for ‘sell’. Why ‘hold’ a watch you won’t wear. Share the love. Seems like you already have takers. I sold one to the forum with box and papers for about £5K not so long ago. No regrets.

That's a great example of what I feel is THE best sub........I would not sell that unless I couldn't make the mortgage or feed the family

A classic, I love the matte dialled Rolexes, so much nicer than the shiny modern ones I think.

If you don’t need the money I suggest keeping it. Even if you don’t wear it often there’s the pleasure to be had from simply owning it and knowing you own it. Some folks will grasp this, others won’t.

Wow, that’s a good price, Wish I could find a deal like that at the moment, would love a 5513 and recently got a bit of inheritance and I still can’t get one :(

Unless you need the money what reason could there be to let go of such beautiful thing? That would be a decision you'd regret forever - or at least til you replaced it with something not quite as nice and for more money! Keep it mate.
