    Potentially bargain perpetual Langematik up...

    http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/...9/lot.193.html

Could be very good buy if it doesn't exceed the lower estimate. Wonder how sought after these watches are? Very respected, but sought after?

    What would you pay?

    ETA "lower estimate"

What would YOU pay is the question?

Why "could be a very good buy"? I'm curious.
First one I found on open sale was $54,500 in America, so if this brings the middle of its estimate plus the 20% odd in fees then it's getting towards expensive in my eyes.

If you like it, bid on it.

**Edit** Only being nosey but have you ever posted a shot of your collection? Just been through your posts and couldn't seem to find anything guiding me towards what you own/wear.

Will definitely have a bid! Tend not to put up pictures really, but my collection is fairly modest. A couple of Datejusts and a Daytona. An 90s AP Royal Oak. An VC chronometre Royale and a 60's sunburst Patek is pretty much it. Oh, was gifted a lovely little Memovox by some friends recently.

... and a pepertual calendar moonphase split time... Fitbit. LOL

Buyers premium is 25% according to their Ts &Cs.

As far as I can see, VAT is only payable on the buyers premium.

Any bid I have will be very cheeky... Can't win if you don't enter the race!

I'm neither a fan of Lange nor of Perpetual calendars, but double-curiously, I absolutely love the look of this watch, stunningly beautiful. How much would you have to add to get a bracelet for it (if available at all)?

I think KS meant 20% on top of Kevs USA example Dave.

‘‘Tis a lovely thing. I’ve never known auction estimates to be anything other than unrealistically low so it’ll probably end up going for more than it should.

An original Lange Platinum bracelet will cost you an arm and two legs, minimum.

Good thing they aren't Swiss, otherwise there'd also be duty, which would cost the remaining arm and make the whole exercise quite pointless. But yeah, I realise that it must crazy money, I was just wondering how crazy, because I don't even have an idea how much the raw platinum that goes into the bracelet would cost.

No, thought it was US auction so VAT payable on watch price for UK buyers.

If you look at this thread, then the US list price for a platinum bracelet was USD 52,800 back in 2013.

True, but the US one won't be the only one out there, just the first I found for sale.
I was just pointing out that away from its lower estimate this isn't exactly the bargain of the century, and at the higher estimate it's going to be pretty expensive in comparison.

Should sit nicely then, especially next to the fitbit! ;)
Bid carefully, unless this is an exceptional example then it might not be the bargain you think with an extra quarter added to the hammer price

My comment was for the OP's US auction example, so was agreeing that it wouldn't necessarily be a bargain.

Anyway, it sold for 40,000 USD.

Yes, it went for "only" USD 40k and I bid under that figure. A beautiful watch and I vow to have one, one day!
