Very cool. Hope it can be cleaned up and/or retored by someone. It would be a huge shame for it to be discarded.
I’ve been helping my daughter with her 1st home - some major renovation- replastering, wall stripping demolition etc
Recently we removes a sheet of ply covering the fire place in the back room
To revelal this- sadly the 2 small doors are missing but if in pretty good shape- the name on the chimney is local to us and I vaguely remember the company from my child hood
God knows how old it is- it would look great restored if doors could be found
It’s a belle portable oven (??) sold by Alfred Olby 21-23 Dover Road Folkestone- the same road I now live on

Excellent find.
Lovely. I reckon those doors will be somewhere around the place. I moved in to an old place with an old aga and we got it up and running. Check the garden and sheds, loft etc, be great to find those doors.
Wow what a great discovery. Crazy to think that was hidden behind ply
That would look lovely as a feature, you could make wooden doors easily and it would look great.
Cheers..

That’s a dream find!! I agree even if not running a bit of TLC would make it a great feature.
Thats fantastic.
We removed an old 70's style gas fire from a tiny fireplace to find a massive soft red brick fireplace behind it. Opened it all out and put a wood burner in and its now a lovely feature.
Absolutely super find! You should definitely preserve that.
Our house was built around 1840, and as we have restored it a huge part of the fun has been finding long hidden features such as original caustic tiles in near perfect condition, victorian wallpaper beautifully preseved behind cupboards and other paper, an old bread/salt oven and other such stuff.
We have even located a very small hidden room that was bricked up years ago - at some point we will get around to breaking through to it.
So clever my foot fell off.
A rather cool place to install a bit of old school hifi. Nice solid base for a turntable ??
There is no way I could know there was a bricked up room and not get into it immediately. It would likely be something I regretted dirt wise or financially but I'd never get to sleep knowing it was there. We have even located a very small hidden room that was bricked up years ago - at some point we will get around to breaking through to it.
I admire your restraint.
Cool looking stove, they don't make them like that any more.
Great call! You’d be amazed what difference a wire brush & a tube of fireplace black would make to this...

Give these guys a call, see what they have that's a similar shape and size, you never know.

My mate used to work for them and they have a good service record.
Great find.
I seem to recall that there s a reclamation yard in Sandwich. It s the sort of thing that they may have. Also there used to be a place that specialised in this type of thing, I think between Tenterden & Rye.
I ll see if I can find details, if it's of any help.

In the worst case a good blacksmith should be able to fabricate replacement doors from steel plate- obviously the originals would have been cast. I’d probably start by removing it carefully, checking for cracked or thin castings and getting it sandblasted. A good firebrick lining will help preserve the firebox if you plan to use it.
A great find. We live in an old 19th century inn which was adapted from an 18th century cottage and it has lots of original features including a similar fireplace. These things make the place distinctive and always provoke questions from visitors.
I have just had a quick look on ebay for "cast iron stove door" and quite a few come up so you may be able to find something suitable and even usable.
Good luck.
