I have 88 fountain pens but I have never heard the term "cool style" - what does it mean or am I just plain uncool ?

Me neither! Just an OAP having a joke. I would love to own and usen a nice fountain pen, but as a left hander at school in the early 1950s whenever I had to use a pen (which was all the bleedin' time) my words of wisdom were smeared even before they had chance to dry. Tried all sorts of oblique nibs but to no avail.☺

Did you vary the ink and paper also? Faster drying inks and paper better suited to such inks could mean you'd be writing just fine with a fountain pen. Finding the combination that works for you is the enjoyable (and expensive) bit.
