Oh no, not good news. So easily done, you just go out there to have a poke about and polish something shiny and before you know it you're ripping the diff assembly out. Dare I say it'll polish out? Is it all running ok?
Ive been replacing a few pulleys for shiny ones! Still got a couple of bits to tinker with, then she should be good to go. Don’t know if I was lucky or unlucky with the clasp though.Originally Posted by tz-uk73

I wouldn’t worry about it ( easier said than done ) but these things are supposed to be worn and battered it adds character.
Actuallly, currents of 30mA can already cause a respiratory paralysis. You would however require a minimum voltage of 40 Volts to reach such a current through the human body (more likely 60+ Volt), so impossible to contract while working on a car.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.

High voltage (60,000+) but low amperage.
It'll refinish OK. Treatment with a blue Garryflex block will make it look better........be sure to move it in one direction only.
I mess around with my old car frequently, I wear nice watches frequently.......I never do both at the same time. Plastic Casio for me when doing any mechanical work.

Wow unlucky, I might be more worried about what it touched as it may have foreign material inclusions in it which may go rusty or cause it to crack

No, this is why you take your watch off when working in tight quarters. It just gets in the way, and G-Shocks are the worst.
Dropped a spot of solder on a wedding ring once. It hurt, alot! Last time I ever wore anything metallic working in the garage.

I did this to a Breitling many moons ago. I shorted a battery I'd thrown in a drawer that was for powering my fish finder/GPS in the kayak.
It spot welded a few links together and generated a lot of heat.
I got a row of small burns on my wrist and needed to crack the links to get them moving again.
The watch was fine, but Breitling couldn't get the two marks out when it had its service a couple of years later.
Only another 130 posts to go.
Looks better with the scar - it tells a story, your story.
A watch is for wearing, the more patina and dents and dinks the better.
Could probably laser weld and rebrush it and it would be good as new.
This is exactly what I finally got round to doing. I sent it to Rocco at Watchworks who, I think you will agree, did an amazing job.
Just be grateful it was just the watch that got scratched and not you.
On the evening of Monday past, I accidently tripped over a wall and fell over the other side for a about 1 meter and landed flat on my face and for about one minute I could not move due to being winded. I could not see a thing but that was due to the fact that I landed face first into sharp gravel and both of the lens in my glasses were grazzed to the point I could not see through them.
This was around 11.45pm and my wife was upstairs in bed so I could not summon help. I lay there for about 20 minutes and eventually and slowly managed to get up and crawl up the stairs to get my wife to drive me to the local Hospital.
When I got there, they had to reset my dislocated shoulder and my face was scratched to high heaven and was a mass of blood and because I am on blood thinners, my entire body is still purple with the bruising. My feet are also giving me trouble and my elbows ache like hell. Even lifting up a cup of tea is agony.
Raffe will be disappointed to know that I was cold sober at the time so the slip was not due to intemperance and being sober the pain was at its agonising worse.
I was wearing a 16710 coke GMT11 at the time and somehow it did not attract the slightest scratch.
This sort of thing really changes how you act in daily life. I have totally given up the idea of buying a Sunbeam motorcycle that I intended to buy as I am now scared witless at the thought of falling off it or being involved in an accident. Also when I do walk, I now shuffle like an old man because I don't ever want to fall over again.
So believe me in the scale of things, you are 100 times more important than your watch and a scratch on it pales into insignificance.
Unless of course you pierced the skin :(
Designed for great depths typically on a deep sea divers wrist,this is normal stuff for a watch of this calibre.........isn't it?
Thats nothing!,I got a deep paper scratch reading the Sun the other day.No hospital visit for me I just turned to the next page although in great pain and discomfort.
