Society needs to change its attitude to fakery and anyone caught wearing fakery, be it a T shirt, a handbag or a watch should be named and shamed in the press for the trash that they truly are.

Don’t personally see a reason to wear a fake there are enough similar looking alternatives out there

I hope you're not suggesting I'm into fakes/reps with that? Unfortunately the subject raises its head here on tzuk enough that 'reps' / 'fakes' means nothing to me. Wouldn't embarrass myself with one on my wrist (for the record).

There must be tons of other watches he would like the look of, that are genuine and cost a fraction of a Hulk. Why not go for one of those instead of choosing to buy a fake that is designed to deceive? There are so many things (watches or otherwise) that are out of my reach. I would love to have them but just buy what I can afford instead of pretending.

Well my Dad bought me a fake Tag in the 90's whilst on holiday, I was teenager and wore it for a few weeks until the brittle glass broke. I wore it because I quite liked it, and it was a gift. Not because I wanted to impress my family or friends, or the co-workers on my paper round.

If I wore a fake today (which I don't) my friends, family and colleagues still wouldn't be impressed –*they all know me well, and know my salary level, so to assume wearing any particular watch to impress others is a concept I don't agree with. I've posted before that most of the day my watch is hidden under a shirt cuff, so wearing it to impress others just doesn't ring true.

So there must be other reasons why people buy fakes – but I'll let those that own them comment on that.

If I remember correctly this is pretty much what you called me when I was trying to buy a genuine watch - god save me from your fiery invective if I ever mention a fake !

Anyway , hi Mick did you do the river cruise yet ?

I wear a watch because it pleases me, the history, the mechanism, the design. A private pleasure. I doubt anyone else could care .
    As for fakes.....pathetic.
this applies to me also. Sums it up perfectly.

Ahh, the Poundweller. Don’t even want to know where you found that pic! 🤑

I am doing it right now, in Budapest (well pest actually) in a bar taking shelter from pouring rain.

I looked in a Rolex ADs shop this morning but I won't mention what I saw as it upsets some of the old guard.
