    Alabama, 1963

There's an interesting article in today's Observer about how their photographer Colin Jones was sent to cover the civil rights problems in Birmingham, Alabama. Here's the article https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...ry-colin-jones , and here's the picture gallery https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...m-alabama-1963 . A strong narrative and equally strong images.

Poignant images, thanks Bob. The tension and fear is palpable.

I'm in awe of the balls that photographers like Colin Jones have, going into situations like that and pointing a camera, Matthew. Don McCullin got through war zones in Vietnam, Africa and N.Ireland!

If you’re an admirer of Don McCullin I wonder whether you caught the film he made with Dan Cruikshank “The Road to Palmyra”. Filmed earlier this year in Syria and shown last week on BBC. You can still catch it on IPlayer.
    He still hasn’t lost it.
