That's a nice looking divers watch. Hints of Seiko and Citizen (in a good way)
For the price it sounds like the perfect beater watch ready for holiday adventures.
I've been on the lookout for a cheap watch, around the hundred quid mark, just to get me over the summer.
A few years ago I bought a Divex 500m diver from a lad who worked for the company in Aberdeen. It was a solid watch and a bit of a beast actually.
Remembering the quality of that watch I thought about getting another but just felt it would be too big, especially as I need it to go under a shirt cuff for work. So I found a company, again in Scotland, who sell them and I ordered the 200m version this time. It arrived today and I'm delighted with it! Here's a pros and cons list based on my first nine hours of wearing it:
Pros:
- 200m water resistance
- Excellent bezel action, no play vertically or laterally
- Bezel and dial align perfectly (take note Seiko)
- Bezel grip is excellent, one of the easiest I've ever used (the opposite of my Omega SMP!)
- Screw-down crown at 4 o'clock
- Dial font is sharp and crisp
- Lume is fantastic
- Date window at 3 o'clock
- Second hand hits every marker
- Slim case slips nicely under a cuff
- Mixture of brushed and polished areas on the case works really well
- Case shape reminds me of the PRS17Q/C
- It measures 44mm across but wears more like a 40mm watch for some reason
- Quartz accuracy
- Case is slightly curved so sits nicely on the wrist
- Case back is nicely engraved with just the minimal information you need, but done well
- Comes with a pretty decent rubber strap
Cons:
- Lugs could have been 20mm
- Seriously, that's it!
And the cost of this beast of the sea?
£76.50.
Surely the best value diver in the world?

Here’s a wee interesting Divex story.

Nice watch btw David. I’m tempted to buy one myself at that price. A great holiday/beach watch.
Been around for years offshore, certainly a work horse.
The indices are very reminiscent of 90s citizen divers. Quite nice
Very impressed.
Quite reasonable price.
Wonder what movement they contain to hit all the markers? My guess is an ISA 1198.
Cracking watch for the money.
Certainly VFM.

Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
Imo the Divex 500m ARE GREAT BEATER WATCHES, bought mine for £60!
I bought my youngest a 200m version which was a similar price a few years back, based on the recommendations in a thread on here if I remember correctly. Been spot on thus far and never had to worry about it like I might my own
Agreed. I've had one for a few years on a Lumpy bracelet and it's still knocking on goodstyle.
I have one of these (200m) on a rubber strap, they have a Seiko movement. I believe they are basically the same watch that you can buy from Apeks, or even get 'free' if you buy a subscription to Diver mag. as I referred to in a previous thread.
They (Divex) also do, or did, so called dress versions M/F on steel straps.
A mate of mine has worn one of these for years. It’s outlasted a couple of g shocks in that time and is still going strong. All though it looks a little worse for wear!

I forwarded one of these on to someone in the States and I thought they were excellent value for money. Seconds didn't quite hit the markers on this one but not an issue. I was pleasantly surprised by how solid if was and the rotating ring action felt good.
We need a lume shot really.
Very citizen looking
I've been wearing an Apeks badged 200m as my daily for several years now.
The second hand doesn't always line up, but for the money (about £60), I've nothing to complain about.
Well, I'd be happier if it didn't have the date. It's rarely right, as I've never got into the habit of setting it at the appropriate time.
Quite a few of the lads in my dive club have these.

Also, I have dived with mine trouble free (only 25 meters ) Lume is very good at depth. I did have the dress watch many years ago (freebie) but didn’t like it as much, bracelet had a cheap look and feel; but then what do you expect for not a lot of money? For me it is the ideal watch for travelling to places where you don’t feel comfortable with serious money on your wrist.

Just dug mine out the box, this one is an aqualung with more of a citizen bezel, fantastic lume on it.

The requested lume shot and one on the stock rubber:

As rubbers go it's pretty comfortable but I don't like that it's a notched style so the strap is wider than the lugs. I must get one that's parallel to the lug width.
thanks for the lume shot takethecanolli
These look nice and i don't have a diver at the moment so thanks for posting.

Like the look of the 500 meter version:

But it’s out of stock :(
I guess that’s saved me an impulse purchase...

Treat yourself to one with an Apeks badge?

They have a 1000m too...

But that’s 20 quid more!

Best £10 ever.
When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
Think mine might be the older branded (ie not yellow) Apeks? Love it though for the pittance it cost me 2nd hand. Mine was used as a dive tool by prev owner and I bought it off eBay for £35 I think. Crystal was a bit tired so I put a domed crystal on. Mine seems to bang on hit the markers with tha second’s hand.
The movement’s are Seiko (as mentioned) but the case is more citizen to my eye. In fact the bezel looks identical to a certain citizen diver.

Excellent value to be honest but agree its very similar to a citizen diver and the Seiko skx007 .

At that money I'd be quite tempted by one of these as a gym watch - I hate G-Shocks.
Amazing VFM and I quite like that it's actually sold through a Marine Supplies company - makes it more of 'the real deal', somehow (if that makes any sense at all?).

David, what is the lug width on these please? You mention as a 'con' that it "could have been 20mm", so does that mean it's actually 22mm?
I rather hope so as I have a very nice 22mm rubber strap in my watch box doing nothing...

Someone recently posted this. You can get the Apeks branded diver for free if you subscribe to diver net magazine. £56.95 for 12 magazines and the watch. Not a bad deal at all.

Hmmn...I have an upcoming poolside holiday, and one of these would do rather nicely for casual wear.
Plus, I really like the no-nonsense honesty of these - built as pure tools, function over form.
I already have a surfeit of divers of course, but I'm a sucker for dive watches and the watch buying itch needs scratched...
