Anyone got any recommendations for a nice quality garden cabin maker?
Looking for something about 5mx4m to use as my woodworking workshop/store
Also any wisdom on the best method of constructing a base? Lots of conflicting advice out there!

Just taken delivery of a cabin from Tuin. Their service including the Dutch haulage company has been exceptional. All queries answered quickly and the website is a great source of help and advice.
I went with a concrete base. Took a lot of time and expense to do properly.
Garden cabin?

A cabin appears more robust-44-70mm wall thickness and walls sit on whatever foundation you choose.
The floor floats within the walls and goes in last whereas with a shed you generally put the floor down first and then put the walls on top.
This is all stuff I’m learning- by no means an expert hence the request for info.
As with sheds- a big variation in standards of construction of the off the shelf stuff most of which are machined in Estonia, so I was told
Concrete base with reinforced steel mesh. Not off the shelf built. Have far better input with regards to sockets, lighting, layout, windows etc

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Lugarde for wood.
But don’t rule out metal if it’s a workshop; some excellent shiplap cladding available nowadays.
Base will depend how workshoppy you’re talking, but 35Nm concrete on gravel should do nicely for any application including vehicle lifting.

my partner has a few dunster house cabins, which we have insulated, plasterboard and skimmed. They certainly do the job for a fraction of the price of a bespoke option and can be upgraded as and when you want.
To be honest, I've had a couple and found the quality not as good as previous.
I bought a Finn Forest about 10 years ago. Still great.
Last year, I got a Billy Oh and found the fit and finish to be no where near as good.

We live in the New Forest so not short of bespoke oak builders etc...
These guys did my summer house and they travel all over. They also made a custom room for someone I work with who wanted it for a massive train set.

I’m in exactly same boat and previously had a Finn forest whidh was great and a few recommendations for Dunster housing but from looking around I think
I’m going to go itv Costco as you get 44mm kimbrey installed for a lot less than You can buy th same cabin uninstalled elsewhere
Also Costco customer service are great so Peace of mind is a factor

Do you have an internet address? I am curious. ‘Tuin’ means ‘garden’. Not an easy word to use when looking for their site

I just typed in Tuin log cabin and the address (admittedly a UK web address) came up.
Found them! Company from a part of the country where my mother originally came from. Still pretty rural with lots of farms etc. Kids from that area go to school with a Fendt or Massey Fergusson tractor... But the sort of people where a promise and a handshake has the same value as a long and boring contract.
Sadly he passed away. His wife works in my office. She says he was over the moon with the room. I would be reluctant to ask for a picture. He was a big Hornby fan and traded on Ebay.
