Tudor Event - 2018 Basel Collection

Popped along to an event tonight to handle the new Tudor collection. Quite surprising as having gone there knowing what would be my favourite and it wasn’t.

A few pics below of probably the most sought after models - 58 & GMT, oh and some outrageous vintage pieces that Sven Olsen (UK general manager I believe) passed around. No original 58 unfortunately but great pieces regardless. Indecently all original military watches with engraved case backs. Check out the dome crystal and that faded blue - what a watch.

See what you think and apologies about the crap pics.

    Vintage loveliness

Oh yeah my favourite (apart from all the military pieces) - GMT on leather, it almost looks maroon in the flesh and the leather strap sets it off lovely.

    Cheers
    Fred

The gmt looks very nice. I think I’d prefer bracelet on that sort of watch but looks good on the leather too.

    Thanks for the report.

The GMT is predictably lovely and with a great movement, though I can't grow to love that riveted bracelet. Ultimately, I personally don't think I'd swap a GMT complication & date for the more useful dive bezel & date-less symmetry of the 58 though, which is excellent and addresses the only weak point of the 41mm Black Bays for me - their proportions. Interesting that neither has a coloured collar on the crown tube either.

And yes, those old Submariners are nicer than both.

Hmmmm, that blue snowflake with the Parachute rubber strap can't be an MN, it has the date on it. Even though that is an "MN" strap.

    So whose military was it???

The GMT looks great! I look forward to seeing the 58 in the flesh as the size of it should be perfect

As others have said the vintage subs look bang on!

    Is it on all week?

    I like all of those.

I very much regret not buying some of that MN strap material when I had a chance last year it wasn’t expensive then.

That GMT keeps looking better and better even though I swore I'd never buy another rotating bezel watch.

    Something not right there.
MN is the French Navy. I was sure they only took non-date snowflakes. And no cyclops?
    Very strange.
lovely watch, but not a straight forward one........

I've just received an invite for one in Manchester in June via Beaverbrooks.

Still mulling over whether to go and see the GMT.
