Unusual new acquisition and it really is ‘The One’.......

I’ve been toying with the idea of trying a Linde Werdelin for a while now, I’ve never been brave enough to go for their more expensive models which have appeared for sale on here but this particular forum darling - which has done the rounds with quite a few of our esteemed members already - recently came up as a trade option and I couldn’t resist.
It’s the absurdly named Linde Werdelin ‘The One’ 2.6 which from what I understand means it’s the 2.6th final version of ‘The One’. It’s not been a safe queen by any means but it’s still in good enough condition for me to admire how beautifully the watch is finished. The case work in particular appears very high quality and matches perfectly with the magnificent bracelet.
This is essentially a dive watch, 46mm in diameter with 300m water resistance and features superb lume on both the dial and bezel and uses their own specially finished version of the ETA 2892-A2 movement which is keeping time within a second a day. What has been particularly impressive however is the easy strap change method using the special bolt tool provided, reminds me of the simplicity Panerai employs for strap changing. Fortunately the watch came with some nice Linde Werdelin strap options so experimenting is proving fun and as it’s limited to being 69/88 I guess I’m unlikely to ever come across anyone else wearing one.
I still know very little about the brand but this has certainly wet my appetite to learn more about them, are there many other Linde Werdelin owners on here, would be interesting to know what their after sales service is like for example?

Wow - that looks solid, robust....makes a deep sea look like a dress watch.

Those polished bits in the recesses around the bezel sure are mirror finish, I can see your pokemon phone case.

Nice one Steve, what's the thickness of the watch it looks quite chunky in the photos. Good to try something different from time to time.

I have admired this marque from a distance.
But never gone for one, based on the simple fact, that in my mind it would look ridiculous on my 6 ¾ inch wrist!

Congratulations to the OP, it certainly looks the business :)

Thanks Paul, only 12mm so not as bad as many of my other watches.
    This interesting video shows the simplicity of changing straps;

I think I have probably owned more LWs than anyone else on the forum, at last count I have had:
    The One (twice)
    Three Timer
    Oktopus Double Date
    Oktopus Moon
    Founders watch
    Spidolite carbon green
    Spidospeed Chrono

They are fabulous watches backed up with superb customer service who anyone has dealt with Eloise will agree.

They aren't actually that big, 46mm is the lug to lug length and 44mm across. They hug the wrist beautifully.

I have only been through so many because I am an idiot and always chasing another one!

I have my eye on a couple i have not tried yet but I plan to always have at least one in my collection. Great watches.

    That looks great Steve!

I had an Octopus Double Date a few years ago that I really liked. However, I'm a big fan of the Spidolite case. They did one with center seconds and a new-old-stock movement (taken from: http://oceanictime.blogspot.co.uk/20...spidolite.html):

...I'd love one of those please 

I have been thinking for trying one of these for a while now. I really like 'The One' and the GMTs. The thing I really like about the watch is the bracelet. Is it as comfortable as it look?

Having seen this very watch just last night I can attest to it being a lovely piece. Surprisingly streamlined on the wrist and very distinctive. I hovered over this on Sales Corner as it was a super package, great value for a cool watch.

    Enjoy it Steve.

Thanks guys for the comments, pleased to hear they seem to have the customer service to match.
In relation to the comfort question I can confirm that even on the bracelet due to the clever supple design it fits and wears very comfortably indeed, it’s not as heavy as it looks ether. Of course there are always the strap options to reduce the weight, today I’m trying it on the rubber for the first time......

That's a great looking watch Steve. More restrained than some LWs I've seen (on here, not in the real world) but definitely different enough to be noticed. I'm surprised it's as slim as you say - that must really help with wearability.

I really enjoyed wearing wearing it when it was in my collection. The bracelet really is a fantastic design and I found it really comfortable, if you get bitten by the bug and want to try something different take a look at wisentexofficial on instagram (he’s NN_ over on WuS). He’s the only 3rd party strap maker for LW watches, although not as expensive as LW sell their straps for.

You've got the same wrist size as me TC, it was one of the most comfortable watches I’ve owned and did not wear big at all.

I’ve checked out that wisentexofficial site, some very nicely priced strap options, thanks for the heads up.

    Superb!

Looks like something one might beat a burglar to death with.

Probably the nicest watch that I have seen on here. Most of the rest look a little samey.

I have always liked the early LW's like the OP's. I remember trying on cmcm3's LW years ago. I've always thought that the Founders watch with a bracelet is something that you would see in the original Robocop or Total Recall. Although the design is similar to other famous watches, the way LW made the first Founders watch is highly original. The bracelet is superb. I'm not a massive fan of the new models and the price! However I think LW are going back to basic model style. I have the 3 timer with rose gold hands, indices and crown. I have thought many times about selling and don't wear it enough but when I do wear it, it just feels good. As for the size it fits the wrist brillantly and I don't have the biggest wrist and stick to 40mm as standard. Would certainly recommend a LW if someone is on the fence about them.

    Sheer class my man!

I had the pleasure of owning a L-W Founders Watch many moons ago and was really impressed by the quality and design.

    Enjoy,
    Sanj

Someone should try a Spidolite forged Carbon Tech II There's one on sales corner 😉

Rather try something like this than other popular forum darlings everyone seems to go for.

Just to echo what Top Cat said - Customer service from LW is exceptional. Second hand watch re-sellers and other watch companies could learn a lot from LW. I've often found service from other manufacturers and re-sellers somewhat lacking.
