Congrats, not typical Patek, and caused a few marmite responses. But personally I think it’s pure class.

I like that, something a bit different.

Not sure I could live with a wait of two years though, I suspect my interest would have waned and I'd favour another style after that long.

Yes, I know what you mean. This was the AD's 3rd watch since release so quite tricky to purchase it seems. I like the fact it was different and thought why not. The cost was daunting but I thought it was a more enjoyable way of spending money as opposed to funding the depreciation in a new car.
These days it seems 2 years isn't that long especially if seeking a Rolex Sports and some blue faced Nautilus models.

Yes, it seems the watch was quite polarising but it is lovely in the metal. I've not seen the new rose gold version but I think the new dial colour is less interesting than this one.

I really like it, but the first person that said 'I like your Zenith', would ruin it for me!

    Lovely!

Nice to see a PP here that isn't the usual blue dialed, chiseled bezel yawnathon!

The price made me think very carefully as it is unquestionably a lot of money and whilst residuals are fairly strong, who knows what future demand will be or whether we are in a watch bubble at the moment.

Watches are like art, you have to primarily buy because you like it. Value growth / retention is an upside if you get it.

My wife has caught the horological disease (good and bad)so she encouraged me to have it. In this regard I'm lucky. She's also ordered the new root beer and white faced Daytona so in that regard I'm less lucky.

Congratulations! A difficult one to track down too. Some nice photos in this article.

I am about to pull the trigger on a 5164, so I know the feeling about dropping a shed-load of money on one watch. But, as my wife says, it's only money and you can't take it with you...

That is very true, it does give you pause to think when you are swiping your debit card through though . Thanks goodness for understanding wives I guess.

I hope you enjoy your 5164. I px my 5167 and an Omega moon watch Apollo 11 45th anniversary against a 5712. That galvanised the interest in PP, it really is a sickness.....

Sounds like a great px for a 5712 and a amazing PP duo!! Get some more pics up when you have time!!

I struggled between the 5711 and 5712 - I think the price difference and timing swung it towards the 5711. I really found it impossible to choose between both but still think now and then maybe I should have gone 5712!

5164 is on my radar since I love my 5167. Not sure how easy it will be to PX / upgrade etc. Ceramic Daytona is distracting me also to complete my trio and I kind of figured obtaining one of these first might make more sense since at least I already have a Aquanaut

Haha - it is dangerously expensive.

Today's watch of choice coincidentally. I really like it. It's a shame the market is so artificially high driven by greys but well worth it if you can get an AD to supply. My wife is wearing the old black face Daytona as her daily, I refused t give her this one!

I'd be more likely to say "Is that a U-Boat?"

Promptly earning a very dirty look I think.

Nice; how does it actually work; what do the extra pushers do?

I'm guessing the adjust home/local time?

Nice mechanism - each pusher releases with a quarter turn. You can then advance or retreat local time by an hour.

    - most people wouldn't know the difference, you're right there is a lot of similarities with Zenith etc. I just liked the fact PP were doing something different and 42mm. Maybe I'm their new target customer as much of their traditional range doesn't do much for me though I do like the new salmon dial 5270P (at an extortionately unjustifiable £143,230).

Is it just the angle or is it a bit big on you? It looks like the lugs are overhanging your wrist.

    Lovely watch though!

Lovely, congratulations! I got to try the rose gold one and Mrs C the ladies version at the weekend. I wasn't a huge fan before but they're great in real life.

It is the picture as I did a double take on it. It doesn't wear as big as it looks in the photo.

You used the Tzuk app :)

The tapatalk app is the only one that really works for photos now, plus it’s easier to access your pms etc.

I like that a lot. Well worth the wait! The similar but simpler 5522 has been a recent Patek highlight for me.

Nice OP! I really like the pilot.
The inky colour and texture of the dial is great.
If I may post the dial - cos god knows what's going on with your pics! ;)

I’m looking forward to trying on the new 5524r later along with the Aquanaut chrono. I’ve seen the 5522a and 5524g on display next to each other in David Duggan on Burlington Arcade and the 5524g is a much nicer watch.
