    My favourite dram

Thought I would treat myself to a bottle of my favourite Whisky, not an expensive bottle but I love this stuff.

no offence to the OP, but personally I think you can do much better for the price. You can do much, much worse than Dalmore, but it has been coloured and filtered the f out of, and is a miserly 40% ABV.

For the price and style, I'd much rather a Glendronach 12 or Glenfarclas 12, or for a little more, Glenmorangie Lasanta.

Glenfarclas is definatly on the to try list, I quite like a sherry finish on my malts, Macallan is another favourite of mine

Loving japanese whiskies at the moment - I have a hibiki japanese harmony and a nikka from the barrel on the go. Both really impressive.

I'm rather partial to some of the Japanese whiskies.. Hibiki 12 Year remains a firm favourite, though it's gone out of production and prices for bottles have gone a bit crazy.

But I had the fortune recently to try a glass of The Yamazaki Mizunara 18 Year Old (2017 Edition) which went on sale with an RRP of £1,000 a bottle and immediately sold out and was changing hands at £2,000 a bottle straight away.

All I can say is, it's made me realise there's an awful lot of hype out there. Sure, it was a nice whisky. But I'd much rather have had a £100 bottle of whisky, and spent the other £900-£1900 on a weekend away, as it wasn't THAT much better.

I have I think 4/5 no longer in production whiskies from here, bought about 10 years ago,I asked their advice on a selection to buy for investment.
Dont ask me what they are I can't remember, their also not easy to get to with my bad back either right now!........but I do need to check them out and see how they've increased in price.....hopefully.

I have not yet found one to rival this, for me.

    I do, however, continue trying.

Yep - a great place to pass an hour! Love the sound of the investment bottles - how much willpower does it take not to have just a little taste?!

If you can't find a whisky in there you won't find it anywhere else, what a selection, and had I not been driving the walk back down the high street would have been fun with all the tasters.Thats something to do do later in the year by train and make a full day of drinking beer n whisky.

Even the miniatures collection is huge! A day split between Wright's and the beer engine would be pretty much perfect...

Ardbeg Uigeadail for me though I'm far more likely to drink a good tequila these days.
