Lot of sanctimonious nonsense. He gets a record fine, 18 month ban. I'm not sure what else people expect.

I'm not sure how folks can say it's one rule for them etc. then in the next breath ask for a more severe punishment because he's seriously wealthy.

Of course the punishment won't affect everyone equally, it's impossible to do. A driving ban affects someone that does 20k miles a year for work far more than someone who does 2k a year driving to pick up the paper. So what's the solution, stick one in prison?

People do get worked up because someone famous is involved!

Another point to note is he was in the car with his mum.

His mum, let him drive when he was 2x over the legal limit.

I’d like to think my mum would have made me take a cab.

I’ve been thinking exactly that since it first happened. I’d like to think she knows him well enough to have stopped him from ever getting behind the wheel.

    Agreed

So technically correct, but the timelines are out...

    Facebook eh!
Quite - never let the facts get in the way of a few quick likes.

    Quite.

As for the fine. I don’t see is as particularly remarkable. A formula has been applied.

Ah good old Facebook... taking two unrelated events that happened 35 years apart under different circumstances and drawing a comparison.
