Lot of sanctimonious nonsense. He gets a record fine, 18 month ban. I'm not sure what else people expect.

I'm not sure how folks can say it's one rule for them etc. then in the next breath ask for a more severe punishment because he's seriously wealthy.

Of course the punishment won't affect everyone equally, it's impossible to do. A driving ban affects someone that does 20k miles a year for work far more than someone who does 2k a year driving to pick up the paper. So what's the solution, stick one in prison?

People do get worked up because someone famous is involved!

Alcohol addiction linked to depression is real, and doesn’t get much sympathy, but I hope his friends and family get around him and ensure he gets the help he surely needs.

Well, partly, Sir Michael Fallon was convicted of drink driving 35 years ago (1983), and was knighted some 30 years later.

Fines for drunk driving weren’t means tested back then.
