I like it more than I did initially but I ended up finding the blue model very difficult to read the time on, and doubt this will be any different.

Was thinking it's also got a similar look to Tudor Fastrider.

    How have you ordered?

Omega told me it was being released like the Speedy Tuesday?

Between 10 and 2 I can see more legibility issues; at other times the subdials ensure legibility.

I think it looks awesome! Nice plain dial layout for a Chrono, with limited script. Awesome! One of the nicest looking Speedmaster imo.

Id like to see a updated bracelet for these though, in order to give more options.
It's just a matter of time...

Really really nice white dial chronograph option. I am not a fan of the manual wind speed masters or the massive co-axial ones. Ideally 40mm diameter and 12mm deep. Lovely job.

direct through AD they have each been given an allocation

    £ 4300 seems reasonable enough

Hi Wayne haha - who uses watches to tell the time ?? Its wrist jewellery

but get your point i need a brail one went to 'Specsavers' as struggling with changing focus and holding phone further away to read and the answer was brilliant "your 48 it happens'

Nothing there confirms to me it'll be released by direct Internet order process as per the ST. It may of course, Arthur Hery is involved with that side and did admin for the ST hence the email address but his mail can be also taken to read that AD and Boutique orders will be the chosen distribution model and it will be put on the website in a few months. He doesn't touch on that and if an AD can take a order that is most likely, they weren't able to for the ST.

Never said that it did, I was told by the Omega Boutique it couldn’t be ordered in store and the believe it would be a simailr affair to the ST hence me asking Omega via email with the above reply.

Either way I don’t disbelieve the OP more a case of I was told different by the boutique and then the email.

At least they've put a more acceptable strap on this one.

They used to do a curved end rally strap which would have been nice on this.

    Agree

interestingly its supposedly 19mm at lugs so might make slightly more challenging to find alternatives

Sam my local AD has been able to order one too, need to see how similar it is to my CK2998, which I actually really like, although it works best on a bracelet as the strap that came was terrible for the watch. This strap looks a better choice but a bracelet I think would be much better again.

I like the form and overall look but the bright red would put me off, just cheapens the look for me. Would love to see it with a more subtle second’s hand and text, maybe even a pastel orange if it has to be coloured.

Or maybe a silver hand with a red tip.

Very nice and much more appealing than the Blue version. That said, if I receive a 'Speedy Tuesday' type e-mail I won't be signing up for one.

Nice watch but annoying the 19mm lugs I would have like to fit this on a bracelet.

The Speedmaster racing bracelet (1564/975) will fit this and also a 1125/560

If I were in the market for a Speedmaster, this would be on my shortlist for sure. I prefer contrasting subdials, I like colour accents, and I like quirks such as the pulsometer bezel seen here. But what makes this Speedmaster particularly nice for me is the cnotrasting chapter ring. This gets rid of the problem with Speedy Tuesdays where the now-white subdials appear too close together; here, they are just perfect- I'd definitely seek out a bracelet for it though. My only gripes are the 1957 hands, I vastly prefer the standard sticks, and the subdial hands, but at least they're both historically justified.

Mind you, there is nothing Christopher Ward produce or are seemingly capable of producing that would come close to the balance and poise of this.

Does anyone else find the pulsometer to be a bit of an odd choice for a watch design that was originally intended as a racing chronograph?

It does allow for a new bezel in the collection, otherwise they might all become a bit samey.

Apparently the original models were offered by Omega with a choice of four different bezel-scale options: tachymeter, pulsometer, decimal, or telemeter.

I like it a lot but the 19mm lugs do put me off, I have spoken to AD today but don’t think I will proceed, nice watch though

Here's an earlier example....the MD10 'Dr Watch'. Complete with pulsometer. It uses a modern co-axial movement, but still manual wind. To me, rather nicer than the new pulsometer offering. Omega say this is based on a 1938 design.

Apparently, it's officially still in the catalogue. 39mm. The 2998 somehow seems a bit 'messy.' It will probably suffer from poor 'readability', like the Speedy Tuesday.

    That's just plain silly.

The CW racing watches are if anything, influenced by Chopard and poor in comparison.

I put my name down last week with my local AD. They said they had ordered 4 watches from the rep 2 for each of their stores.

I would take the blue panda over either of those other two or the one in the OP, even at the same price. I think the blue panda is one of Omega's best releases in the past 10 years.

It's designed for checking your heart rate while in the middle of a very exciting car race.

Same hands as the FOIS - not the easiest to read in certain lights.

  48. #48
That Panda dial is really nice but I found my CK2998 Blue a bit dainty so let it go....assume this is exactly the same size wise...
