Update to this thread:

In the end I went for a Fender Pro American Strat in antique olive with maple neck. Got it just the other day before going on holiday so other than a quick strum it had to wait till I was back from the sun and sea.

A beauty - not seen that colour before.

I think a Strat is always a good choice!

Mike is indeed a great bloke to deal with - I've got his old Les Paul!

The neck will darken down over time. My US Standard I bought new was a deathly white, it's now a sort of antique tan as you can see!

Very nice choice. I prefer the two point bridge on a strat myself
