I had to buy a Dr Pepper, Topic and packet of ginger nuts to get mine when I went in.
It was worth it though - I flipped the topic at a huge profit a few days later!
That's harsh. I bet it hurt.
The rather rude shop assistant did say that if I came in more often and bought some Fanta and 7 Up they might consider selling me a can of Pepsi in future

Sounds like you've settled there. It'll end up getting flipped. Have you thought about visiting other Tesco's home and abroad to increase your chances of getting the beverage you really want?
Think yourself lucky, I was rudely informed I could have the can but they would be keeping the actual pepsi for 12 months. Told them to stick it and went and got a rola cola from another shop, that will show them.

They insisted on removing the sticker before i could leave and I had to drink all the Pepsi before I left the store as they thought I might be tempted to share it with someone else

I paid £1.60 for one tin of Pepsi at a preserved railway where we were providing the traction ( a diesel loco ) clearly not an AD but feck me did I have to bite my lip

Popped down to my local newsagents this morning to pick up a paper and see if there were any Pepsis in stock. The owner laughed at me and then his wife came in and continued to mock me. I've been shopping there for years. It did not feel nice.
