Anyone done a flight in a Spitfire

A long shot but if anyone can help/advice then TZ is the place to start.

On the 11th June poor Mrs MJC1216 will have been married to me for 30 years and i want to arrange a flight in a spitefire for her(I know from our joint interest in military history that she would love it)

The best location for me is Duxford which fits in for other arrangements that i will need to make.I will probably buy a voucher (then at least she has something to open on 11th June and these also let you book weeks in advance for a specific date/time etc) as it may be August before we can arrange the trip.

From research there are a number of companies that run this trip and most have excellent reviews.

The cost is £2750 and before you go BUT i could buy another watch for that she never bothers how many watches i buy or what they cost.

Does anyone have any experiences that they can share or recommend a company that flys from Duxford.

    Many thanks for your help

    Mark

I think there’s just Classic Wings at Duxford...I’m pretty sure you won’t go wrong. They’re also the official flying partner of IWM.

At £5.5k per hr it ain’t cheap but certainly once in a lifetime!

I couldn’t stretch to a Spitfire but a number of years ago, I took my Dad on the Duxford Dragonfly Rapide. I see it’s an economical £99 now. He enjoyed it. He did his RAF WOp training on a Rapide. The pilot had to sort the passengers by weight and tell them where to sit.

Friend of mine has done it. She was over the moon. All she could babble about for a week afterwards.

I did this in 2015 and still babble about it like an overexcited 5 year old when asked.
I flew with Classic Wings at Duxford who were absolutely fantastic.

it is a enormous amount of money but in my opinion, worth every single penny and then some.
It’s truely an experience of a lifetime.

Here’s the thread I started about it the day after: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...83-Chocks-away

Any questions about it just ask here or PM me.....
