What do we think of this 16600?

    Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anybody here has had any dealings with UK Vintage Watches and would be able to elaborate on their experience?

    Thanks

Pics of the watch I have a arranaged to collect are below, but would like members opinions before taking the plunge....

No reason in particular. It looks good to me, but I was waiting for the opinion of the Rolex experts.

at first i thought it was the light but in all 3 pics there looks to be an issue with the hour hand? it looks like the side 1/5th has been folded or damaged in some way.

Just looks like a typical generic SD/SUB type watch. There are so many made by so many companies.

You should ask them for another picture to show the hour hand is not damaged

It’s the light. Often happens when I take a pic. Where is tool kit though ?

Assuming it's Sonning - pricey, and lots of refinished dials. That aside I don't know of anything wrong with them. Ah - seemingly not.

I'll say again, by the way, that the hour hand is fine. It's a trick of the light.

I haven’t heard of them before.

Looks a lovely watch. I hope it all checks out for you.

Although it looks fine, I'd ask for a couple of images of the bracelet with regards to stretch. These bracelets can suffer.

    The correct protocol is 'dont'.

Just so let you guys know, I picked the watch up this morning. It is absolutely mint, with no signs that it has ever been polished.

    Overall, a very happy customer.

Oh and the hour hand wasn't damaged

One thing I have noticed is that I can't see the etched coronet at six o'clock. Now this watch is a K serial 2002 model. Should I be concerened about this, or did the laser etching come in at a later date?

If I listen closely to the watch it does seem to be running a very high frequency of operations per second, which I would expect.

    Thanks

I would be more worried if you can see laser etching.

A quick google search seems to reveal that the LEC wasn't introduced on Sea Dwellers until 2003, so looks like i'm in the clear.

It looks nice, but get a picture of the clasp. Many nice cases are matched up with over-polished clasps.

The clasp looks perfect. I can't tell if one of the lugs has been polished a little bit, but it looks like a really nice example.

Thanks. According to the seller, it had come from a large private collection and was only worn a handful of times since 2002.

Absolute beauty. They’re not cheap these days, but (particularly as long term keepers) they’re still wonderful watches.

The 7 o'clock lug hole looks fairly soft. If you post a good macro I could tell you if it's been polished - if you care. In either case, it's nice, and nice ones are getting harder to find.

I'm not seeing a sharp edge on the LUG HOLE. Could be the picture, could be the watch. Clear?

I think it must just be the picture, because the edges of the lug holes are as crisp as can be when viewed in person. I'll try to get some better pics up with my DSLR.

Had/have a couple of these and to me that is a very nice example, they are one of the best Rolex sport watches bar none and feel fantastic on the wrist, good luck with your purchase I am sure you will be very pleased.

    Great catch!

FairPlay for doing your best to get info before diving in and messing up your first Rolex purchase!!
From my untrained eye it looks stunning so just enjoy it!

Once it’s on your wrist and there’s no reasons to sell it then previous polish and over done edges etc etc won’t matter!!

Thanks for the comments guys, really enjoying this one on the wrist. I was concerned about it feeling too small since l came from an Omega PO 45.5mm, but the size is just perfect.

Well done that man, I love the weight of these, just enough to let you know you are wearing a bit of quality but not too heavy to dislocate your wrist.

Indeed, it's a particularly nice example of a perfected watch.
They're magic on the wrist. Enjoy!
