It does and it doesn't. The fake ageing of the lookalike stained darkened dial is one thing but the fake spotting is quite another. A really weird design choice, not a winner for me.

Oh dear. Longines seem to have this habit of cocking up what could otherwise be a lovely watch. Yet another fail as well as the Tissot on another thread. Fake ageing always looks terrible and this is no exception. What is the matter with these people!? Why couldn't they have just made a modern 6B/159?

I like it apart from the crown. Looks out of place to me..

I like it, but would be happier if the case and crown were all brushed.

Fake spotting on a dial is like trying to recapture your youth by painting fake acne on your face

Fauxtina taken too far IMHO. Longines are doing some really nice stuff in their heritage collection though. I've always liked the diver and the big eye chronograph is one of the nicest chronographs out there.

Not a fan of this though

The fake spotting is just wrong, it would look great without it.

I like it and think the spotting makes the watch. Nice way of capturing a vintage look without faffing around with vintage watches and the associated pitfalls

Oh man, this could have been a great release, I love the style but I'd prefer 36-37mm and it's taking the 'fauxtina' look too far I think.

Just seen the price, it's not cheap at Ł1500 either!!

I happen to know where you can pick up a genuine vintage Longines for less than half that price though...

Oh I HATE that!!! Its ugly anyway, and the fake ageing of the dial is repulsive!

Totally something you can wear everyday with the look of a 70 year old watch without the hassle

Presume they're all printed with the exact same pattern? Reminds me of the ceramic bathroom tiles that are designed to mimic limestone with the little amonites and shell remnants. Quite convincing, until you notice the same pattern on an adjacent tile. (no offence to anyone with these, by the way - we have them in our loft; more practical than real stone but they are what they are..).

Here's a thought though: What about deliberately painting the dials with an unstable paint / include contaminants that will age prematurely, but each one is unique/diff? There's a lot of chemistry goes into paints to make them light-fast and so on, so I'm sure it could be reverse-engineered? Similar idea to the BB Bronze / other bronze watches, that patinate over a year or two.

I actually think it adds charm to the dial... and it beats faux-lume hands down. Plus none one else is ever going to re-make a version of this watch (search the forums for me begging Eddie to do it - a few times!)

It's the one watch that I've shown my wife from the show that my wife has said she wouldn't be adverse to me spending money on!!

^^^ someone said that every dial is unique. Not seen that officially myself yet.

Why not just buy an old watch, have it serviced/refurbished?

Is that just a little bit too easy?

    Longines :)

I have the heritage 1945 which has a similar strap but in a different colour. Quoted Ł53 by the AD for a replacement which doesn’t seem too bad.

Elsewhere? Not sure so I’d be interested to know too.

Another thumbs down for the fake spotting. Otherwise I would consider adding this to my collection as I am looking for a field watch.

It would have been a better idea if they offered an "aged dial" version and a "brand new" dial version...

I like it overall but the fake patina is... I don't know...

You don't get modern day build. I have a Benrus military watch that got buggered with a small fall... I imagine the new Hamilton would have stood up to it. Which is why I'll get one when the tropical dial comes in may, as I live the dissing and I can use it every day.

Of course we all have different experiences, dad bought his 'Longines' 60 something years ago, wears it pretty much every day with no problems.

    Not true

On each beige dial there is a faint pattern of dots that have been applied at random, so that no two will ever look exactly the same.

Nice looking watch and would be a lovely looking dial without the spots.

Correct!........couldn’t put it better myself. The fake ageing spoils an otherwise pleasing watch.

Maybe those silly sods who buy jeans with holes in will be impressed! Personally I can’t stand fake/ contrived ageing in any shape or form, it’s just wrong.

    38.5 mm, which is... perfect.

I usually dislike fake anything, but might make an exception for this watch. Need to see it though.

    New “Vintage”Longines

Shouldn’t this be handwound though ? At least then the faux patina is forgivable . Same for those longines heritage 1918s - automatic WTF!?! Heresy!
