#1308 - already over the trigger point however hopefully every addition adds weight.
That's a wonderful note
That's a very nice note to us all Graham, we hope your wishes will come true and all the very best to your daughter.
Lovely note. Looks like you are raising a great kid.
I’m guessing the note is posted using imgur seems like Vodafone doesn’t play with imgur so can’t see it, either way I’m happy you have achieved enough signatures fingers crossed you get the result.
Done and done - not looking forward to when we have to go through this in the future :(
Graham you may have missed my post but wondered where she is being sent to in the first instance
I know virtually all the schools in your area so do know what they are really like

Brilliant note - what a well brought up girl! And a credit to her parents!!
What a lovely thoughtful thing to do, whatever the outcome I hope this considerate young person gets the excellent education she deserves.
"To everyone (from TZ-UK) that signed the petition and wrote really nice comments. And from people who have and haven’t experienced this, it’s really lovely to know that you’re on our side.
I’m hoping that by doing this, no one will have to suffer from this next year; thank you!"
Sorry, did see your post but forgot to reply. She’s been allocated Longhill. We went to look around all the schools just in case, which I know many people didn’t, and we’ve since been back again and met with the head. We’ve tried to approach it with an open mind, and I believe the school is on the way to being ‘good’ now (Ofsted), but it really does come down to our daughter being wrenched from her community and friendship groups, and having to travel on her own to a school far outside the city. The subjects our daughter excels at and is interested in pursuing really are better provisioned at our schools within catchment. If you have any insights you can share I’d welcome a pm :-)
A few of you have said similar things to the above. I’d love to take credit for the person she’s growing to become, but I genuinely can’t - she exceeds me in almost every possible way. She’s kind, funny, compassionate, insightful, tactful and fiercely loyal to those she cares about.
On the day we found out about the allocations and I went to collect her, she signalled for us to walk away rather than stop by the school - one of the girls in her year was in floods of tears just behind us, having found out she hadn’t got her choice. When I explained as we were walking that we were in the same situation too, her reaction without even thinking was to run back after this other girl - she said she had to let her know she wasn’t the only one.

Just shown this to Mrs Jega ,
"What do you think of this then darling ?"
A beautiful little letter and ....................................her handwritings a bloody sight better then yours.
She’s a credit to you Graham. I really hope this plays out in her favour. 🤞
As a non-UK resident/citizen, I suppose that I am not allowed to sign the petition. Or at least, it's not counted as a valid signature, I suppose.
Having said that, you have my fullest sympathy! I must say that this 'rule' would cause riots and a revolution in The Netherlands. Every Dutch politician signs his own verdict when he/she would try to suggest or implement a rule like this.
Lovely note from a top well brought up young lady!
Any school in the country would be lucky to have your daughter as a pupil. I hope it works out well for all of you.
Signed (1337) and the very very best of luck with this.
Signed best of luck my heart goes out to you...would hate for my daughter to be in this position....

Keep us posted
I wanted to post a quick update, as so many of you were so kind in supporting our campaign and signing our petition.
It’s been quite some week but we’ve had a very good outcome tonight following a meeting of the council.
Newspaper hyperbole aside, this is not across the finish line just yet and I won’t quite believe it until we have it confirmed in writing, but this really is a huge step towards all those kids who were affected getting a place in one of our community’s schools.

Given we were up at 4am this morning putting the finishing touches on our appeal before it had to be submitted, I think I’ve earned a wee glass of wine this eve.
Thanks again to everyone who signed, or wrote a nice comment of support. This place can be amazing at times.
That really would be great news. Well done on fighting!
Great news, let’s hope there’s action behind the words!
Brilliant news Graham, do let us know when (not if) you get the outcome you’re waiting for 👍🏻
Fingers crossed that you get a good outcome.
Fantastic…. Let’ us know when it’s all signed and sealed…
There’s a britflick movie in this story !

I see it's good news all round, well done the TZ massive!!
Pleased to see it all worked out in the end.
I’m very pleased to be able to post a happy endnote to this thread:

Political winds were in our favour - I’m under no illusions that we’d have been as successful otherwise - but it was the petition that kickstarted this all and got the press interested, which then started a chain of events resulting in last-minute council policy committee amendments and a commitment to place these children at one of the schools in their community.
Having had a bit of a shit Easter with this hanging over us, our Daughter can now concentrate on sitting her SATs without the worry of where the hell she’ll be going to school this September.
I’m massively grateful to each and every one of you who signed or left a comment of support, or both.
Thanks everyone very much
Graham
Excellent news and nice to see common sense prevailing.
It's wonderful to hear that. It only took a moment to register support but the communal effort has helped to produce a superb result.
Fantastic news, well done.
