Sorry, I don't understand. You're ashamed that you left a watch with an AD for a warranty repair? And you don't think you'll ever see it again?
Hi not posted for a while but thought I should share.
I dropped my IWC pilot in for repair today and left the shop without the watch on my wrist for the first time in two years. Not sure about others but I felt naked and light wristed. The reason I was shamed is that Ieft it at Goldsmiths to send to IWC.
The crown on the watch was only engaging quarter of a turn when screwing down. When I spoke to the young lad his first question was "is it a wind up watch". I kid you not that is exactly what he said. He took it out back and said an expert had looked at it and said there probably was a problem but it was screwing down and probably water tight - was I sure I wanted to send it back under warranty because it may take a few weeks!! To my shame I left it with them to send off with warranty card and all. I have no confidence I will ever see it again...
So I am naked for 5 weeks or so. Anybody got any smart ideas for a cheap second hand wearer as a stand in?

Get a cheap quartz.....fine for five weeks, and useful as a stand-by. £20 should do the trick.
Tongue in cheek but yes - given their complete lack of knowledge and slap dash approach to the repair they didn't fill me with confidence yet I still left the watch with them.

If you're looking for a cheaper but similar alternative, Laco do a very good range of pilots' watches.
My Augsberg was £240, I think, from Page & Cooper. I wouldn't have been surprised if you'd said it cost 4 times that. A quality item.
I was thinking just this too! OP, you have the PERFECT excuse to increase the size of your collection a little. Given that you have a Pilot, perhaps you should consider a diver or a sporting chrono? It doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. Enjoy the freedom to roam :)
What is cheap for you? MVMT
Good opportunity to get a PRS18Q-COSC...
Seiko SKX.
If it was the Oxford branch I had a better experience just now. Youngest guy in there full of enthusiasm and a decent amount of knowledge.

I went over 10 years with just one watch .... until I had to send my Sinn U2 in for service last July. Found I was lost without a decent watch so I bought another Sinn (U1000) then this year a Sinn 103 for my Birthday.
They didn't offer you a replacement watch while yours is being serviced?!! What this world is coming to..

Thanks for making me laugh - yes just one watch. But this is not for wanting. I just get sooo close to making the decision then pull back.
