    HPI check

Just agreed a price to buy a car privately. Never done a HPI check before on anything in the past but wondering if i should. If so which is a decent HPI checker to use?

Used the above 2-3 times with no problems.

I even used them when I bought my Pagani huayra.

Surely HPI do HPI checks, other companies do vehicle history checks.

MyCarCheck. Com do a basic check for £3 which covers the basics.

With the app on your phone you can also pull up certain details of a car (make/model etc) for free by just entering the number plate.

It's worth the outlay if only for peace of mind. For the sake of a tenner.

When buying a car a hpi check is a must, I made a deal with a guy 5 years ago subject to a hpi check and it came back that his girlfriend still owed on it

Yes even if the garage/dealer show me the HPI check printed out I go away and do my own. Is that being too paranoid?

Cheers everyone. Chose RAC in the end and it flagged up a 'be aware' alert. Outstanding finance.
    Agreement type: unit stocking
Finance company: Toyota TFS wholesale funding.

It was for 36 months from when it was new. Looks like I'll have to give them a ring tomorrow to check the finance is payed off.

Could just be an old dealer stocking loan that hasn't been removed. Always worth checking before handing money over .
