What’s your least favourite watch brand ?

you know that brand that you really dislike .the one that doesn’t have a model you would wear in the entire collection , the one that has a display of 30-40 watches at your local watch boutique that you won’t spend more than 3 seconds looking at .

For me it would be the rado range or the corum range , hideous watches , and would rather leave home without a watch rather than one of them .

Also I can’t stand fashion watches like Gucci or emporio Armani , stick to clothing and perfumes guys

So which brand of watches are you least likely to wear and least likely to take an interest in at your local watch boutique ?

Agree with regards to fashion watches - especially the likes of Armani, hate them now that I’ve developed some knowledge about watches but I must admit, I am guilty of owning one in my much younger days when I didn’t know the difference between an automatic and a quartz movement!
Also hate all these Kickstarter watches, I know we don’t see any of them in watch boutiques but they do sometimes appear on your social media feed, especially the like of Filippo Loreti who pretend to be a luxury brand for a fraction of the cost - GTFO!

on here if its not a Rolex generally its frowned on. I am not passionate enough to generate feelings of hate for a watch, but i am not keen on fussy watches so smart watches and chronos are a no for me.

Unfair to group Gucci with Armani IMHO

Gucci watches commenced its production in 1997. Gucci Group got hold of the operating assets of the 'Severin Montres Group' the group went on to take some bold steps in the form of mergers and acquisitions in 1999. It bought 'Yves Saint Laurent Couture' and 'Sanofi Beaute' and also claimed a 70% stake of Sergio Rossi.
In early 1999, the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, increased its shareholdings in Gucci

...some decent watch brands in that stable...

...& since then they’ve made some good watches ( as well as fashion pieces) - see the Pantheon range for example.

The thread was asking what brand designs leave you hot or cold? Just because a ceramic Daytona, or certain other Rolex professional models are a hard thing to spot in real life, doesn't change thier design codes.

I wouldn’t claim to hate any watch brand in principle. That’s quite a strong emotion to apply to a small inoffensive mechanism.
However, what brands (and sub brands) would I not buy, or not buy again?

- B&R (mostly really ugly)
- Hublot (or anything modelled by M. Genta to look like a porthole: notably the “Naut”s and RO)
- Rolex (thoroughly worthy watches, but there are many other brands, less hyped and just as good, for which you don’t have to wait)
- Mont Blanc (good watches, I think, but it’s a fountain pen really)
- and, in common with most here, fashion brand extensions.

Leaving aside the obvious fashion brands.

Probably RADO which is ironic really as I don't really dislike any of there models as such, infact I think they rather nice and distinctive for their style. However throughout the years I can look at large displays of them and never see a single model there that I would be the least bit tempted to buy even with a hefty discount, I guess their designs just aren't for me.

Having said that I certainly would be very interested in the Captain Cook reissue(smaller size one). Annoyingly none of the AD's around my way ever carry that model so I've yet to see one despite always looking for it.

Try reading TRF, some people actually "hate" Submariners but love Datejusts. Personally my strongest emotion is just plain indifference.

The brand is everything the watch stands for in the eyes of the person who buys it (or doesn’t). If only the look matters to you, fair enough; not everyone feels that way. None of the watch companies do.

When it comes to the amount of words published or written on fora: Rolex. It is just another brand that makes - in my opinion - very plain watches in huge numbers and at extremely inflated prices. I am totally not into them, except for some vintage pieces. I really get tired from all the Rolex related posts.

When it comes to watches I don't like otherwise, it must be about Hublot, Panerai etc. Oversized, black watches etc.

I wasn’t a fan of Breitling until I got one - albeit second hand and I still think retail prices are ridiculously high. But the quality is there, the designs can be attractive, and some of the tech is cool.

Others that leave me cold: Panerai (too plain and large), Hublot, TAG, and brands that have a high focus on dress watches: FC, Maurice Lacroix, Longines, etc. Also was never attracted to any Baume & Mercier model, and I tried very hard with the Capeland S XXL Diver, which I’ll admit has a very nice dial.

You have to be a very sad and insular person to hate a brand. If you don't like their styling or marketing then that's fine, but to hate something I can only assume that the brand has committed some kind of personal attack against you.
