Girard Perregaux "30 years in Fiat"

Attracted to this - a classic design, given to FIAT employees with 30 years servive. They come up quite often on Chrono24 and eBay.

Downside: Not an "in house" movement but an ETA with a chrono module

Upside: Fantastic build quality and classic design, blued hands, silvered dial, for not much money

I'm having trouble placing where the value "should" be. There are the usual optimistically overpriced examples on the above sites, a few seem to sell in the £1400 range but eBay auctions also end without bids.

    Anyone looked at these before?

I have never heard of these before (heard of GP, just not the model) but as a self confessed Fiat nut, it is something that I will investigate.

Given this is an ETA movement, can anyone shed any light on what movement the Ferrari editions were? If they were in house, and can be picked up for similar money on Chrono24 both circa £2k, then branding aside, the Ferrari models would seem better value and/or the ETA Fiat model over priced. However, because these are given to staff and not sold to the public, means they have had to find their own second hand market value. £1400 sounds like a good price, but then I am bias. Servicing an ETA movement would cost a lot less than an in house GP movement too!

Lets just hope it has better rust proofing than my X19!

It looks like at least some Ferrari editions use the same ETA with Dubois/Depraz chrono combination:

Have to admit, the appeal of this one is that the "branding" is simply an engraving on the back rather than anything on the dial which is clean and with no date.

I am not a fan of car branded watches either, not on the dial at least.
Many of the Ferrari GPs had prancing horses or shields on the dial, which were a bit too in your face, but some, such as the 250 TDF and 250 TR editions were quite subtle but did have more detailed case backs.

I have always admired GP, but the Fiat connection adds to the appeal for me. Although the purist would prefer an in house movement, the value would no doubt be much higher if that were the case. It is a very nice looking watch, regardless of what is on the case back or inside.

After a bit more digging on Chrono 24, you can get the same model number (49480) watch without the Fiat branding for £200 less.

I have looked at these before. Classic design from a good brand so 1400 seems ok for that.

Ah ok. I'm looking at £1400. £1800 is imo too high for these models

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132525329103 – had it listed last month at €1400.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/253324544199 – use this to knock those other two down.

Thanks, I missed one of those. The one I'm looking at now is mint, unworn. I think £1200-£1300 is probably a decent price for it if I can knock him down.
