Doesn't it always end-up with the same point; you either accept the conditions and buy, or you don't. It's obvious, so why these endless threads, that go no-where. It makes forum Rolex customers seem petulant and whingy. Don't like, don't buy. End of problem.
And now people are even moaning that the AD offers to size the bracelet. Of course they offer to size the bracelet, it's part of normal service.

Deep sea JC great pick up.
Enjoy it who cares about the other stuff.
I don't know where this idea came that traders have carte blanche to set any terms they want and if you buy on that basis then you have no redress.
That is not so. You cannot sign your consumer rights away.
If a trader sold on line and stated that if you bought you understood that distance selling laws did not apply to that item, do you think he can do that? Well he can't.
Whatever condition he tries to set it has to comply with consumer legislation, he is in breach otherwise and you cannot sign away your legal rights.
I think someone needs to lay a complaint with Trading Standards about a possible breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and quote from Part 1 of Schedule 2 of said Act (which lists probable unfair contract terms) particularly section 20..............
"20. A term which has the object or effect of excluding or hindering the consumer’s right to take legal action or exercise any other legal remedy, in particular by—
(b)unduly restricting the evidence available to the consumer",* (* In this case the warranty card and being able to prove you have legal remedy)
The OP should buy the watch then challenge the store with a threat to refer the matter to Trading Standards if they do not release the warranty card.
He could say he bought the watch as a gift for someone in Australia and that the warranty card needs to go with it. It will cause him problems in establishing his rights if he doesn't have it, as he can hardly go through the dealership and he wasn't the one who bought the watch in any event.

Well you can add the gmt batman to the list , that’s for sure

If you asked nicely, wouldn't the AD give you the warranty card straight away?
It seems that Rolex don't insist on this practise, neither do all ADs in the same chain, and it's probably illegal anyway. It's probably just theatrics for the once-in-a-lifetime punters. Therefore if you just asked, insisted even, wouldn't they hand it over?
Get the watch, get them to resize it, take all the stickers off of it, ask for your card and if it’s not forthcoming demand your money back and let them have an unstickered watch and a few spare links back in stock!
BLNR .🤦🏽*♂️

TBH, if I was paying for a watch complete with box, papers and warranty card, thats what I would be expecting.
Spoke to the AD and confirmed I'm taking it as soon as it comes into store, hopefully it'll be on my wrist within the week.
While all the comments about what to say or do vis a vis the AD keeping the warranty card are interesting, I'm taking a long term view - I am close to getting a watch I have had much trouble finding, I want to keep it long term and I would like to build a relationship with the AD going forward...
Sounds like a good idea, especially if you plan to keep it.
However, in all seriousness, what do you hope out of 'building a relationship with the dealer'. Your friends friend presumably did this to get his Daytona and you took great offence from that. I can't understand the difference.
Potentially easier access to a future watch I'd be struggling a la BLNR scenario...e.g. I'd love to get a blue SS Skydweller one day
I was gutted about my mate's mate blatantly using his AD connection to make money flipping where genuine buyers struggle to get hold of watches
Has anyone started one of these threads and not ended up buying the watch in question?

I’d quite like to ask to see the card and then put it in my pocket . Are they likely to man handle me to retrieve it ?
I suppose they could call the police to report me for taking my warranty card . Realise that’d be the last purchase I could make there .
Anyone fancy trying ? I’ve not got the funds or waiting list place to try myself !
Just wondered if you collected the watch yet. Have one on order myself so interested to see what people think of them after a long wait.
Glad the op bought it. Personally I wouldn’t have an issue with it. If people are genuine and want to own the watch what difference does 6 months make.
Haven't stopped staring at it yet...
12 months actually, but exactly what you said...who cares, I have a brand new BLNR on my wrist and didn't had to pay through the nose (like I was tempted to a couple of times)
Wondering what Baselworld tomorrow holds - the AD made the point that it could well be the last BLNR they have sold (though I doubt it)...my money is on a white gold GMT coke bezel with jubilee strap - what would that be? A 116713 LNRO?
Nice one, looks stunning. Glad you bought it and hope you enjoy it.
Looks great. I loved it and then went off it but love it again!
Enjoy
