    Hello Olliver,

It is a multi function dial. The red pointer has two functions. Primarily, it points out the moon phase. Photographed last night, it shows approx 5 day 'till full moon. It's second function, when set, is to show, on the hatched quadrant, time to high tide. The coloured dial, shows the permanent state of the tide. Once set for your logation, (instead of the 24 hr timer), the disc rotates once every 24 hrs, dark blue represents high tide, graduating down to yellow for low tide at your present location.

It's a very complicated Lemania movement, and listed as one of the 8 GRAND complications.

Some days it wears small and sometimes massive! This is actually my first mechanical watch from over 10 years ago and helped me dip my toes into horology. Slippery slope since then of course....

Well, all I can say is WOW! Its amazing what can hide in plain sight... One of the GRAND complications sitting there on Friday thread without shouting about it.

Its lovely, and I really appreciate your explanation. Thanks.

It's been a long time since I last wore this. It sort of fell out of favour as I was wearing other watches. I came close to selling it but it's still here. It wears big as it has a tall case and lugs but at 42mm diameter it's not enormous. It has wonderful presence on the wrist and that dial is just so legible.
