    My meagre collection.

Been on this great forum for a while now so thought I'd post up some pics of my small collection. Don't have much to spend on watches (a young family and a mortgage I'm trying to pay off quicker have seen to that🤤) so have tried to choose each watch in value for money and what I need it for (well, maybe apart from one). Apologies in advance for the poor photos. Any comments positive or negative always welcome.

1st up us my daily beater, I spend quite a bit of time outdoors and pottering in my garage so needed something to take the knocks. What else but a G Shock (GG 1000-1A5ER).

Next a watch that I wear for work. I don't wear a suit and work with protective clothing quite a lot so needed a "workhorse" pardon the pun. Also just love the classic looks of this. Seiko SKX 007 on a Strapcode.

I love Mountain biking, road biking, running, hiking and swimming and im a bit of a nerd when it comes to stats. The next one covers all these. Garmin Forerunner 735XT with built in HRM.

Last up is my favourite. My wife and I pool all our money together so when she said why don't I buy myself a decent watch for my 40th I was made up. Not just having the watch but the whole experience of buying it new from David M Robinson's. Omega Planet Ocean 600m.

Not the most exciting collection but I love them all😉

To use the word "meagre" is to do yourself an injustice. Small but perfectly formed; a nailed-on classic in the form of the Seiko, a rough and tough G-Shock and a classy PO for all occasions. What's not to like?

A collection doesn't have to mean expensive! I've got expensive tripe and wear a battered g shock or a citizen ( the holiday watch thread one ) on a nato and they are not big ticket watches
    Nice omega thingy too

Great collection, covers all the bases. My fave is the omega, and I would love a Garmin but not permitted to wear one for work so had to get a fitbit instead.

Nothing to be critical of there... very nice indeed. The lume on that PO is like a torch!

Nice watches - the Seiko 200m is a classic, and deservedly so.

Omega is a timeless design also and guaranteed to give long-lasting pleasure.

As others have said, not meagre at all. Well thought out and a watch for all scenarios. A collection to be very pleased with I'd say

Nice collection mate, far from meagre - some good quality pieces, pieces that are there for a purpose and also good value.

I'm a bit like you, got a young family so can't be blowing fortunes on watches left right and centre - in our situation you have to choose wisely. I've also got the SKX, rugged and great value. I have a G-Shock too, for sport and camping etc. Got mine brand new for £27 which makes it all the sweeter! Also got the Seiko Alpinist and am saving for the Tudor BlackBay 36. I'm 40 in a couple of years and (like you again!) have earmarked an Omega (Seamaster) for that milestone.

    Congrats on a tasty collection👍

Thanks all, done quite a bit of flipping watches at the lower end (strictly one in, one out basis) but think I might have finally got it sorted.........for now!

A very nice collection, have a massive soft spot for a PO, but the SKX007 is an all time classic.

I've always liked watches since I saved up tokens when I was a kid and got a Casio 007 watch that played the Bond theme tune. Spent quite a few years without one but then my wife bought me a watch for a wedding present which started all of this madness! Joined TWF then stumbled along this place which has been a great source of info for pretty much everything......including watches!

Sounds familiar…. My passion stated off with an ‘80’s digital watch…. My wife brought me a G Shock once for Christmas!

TWF is a very friendly place, but, I don’t post there too much now

A watch for literally every occasion mate....

(And of all the watches I’ve owned the P.O. is the only one I still miss!)

A respectable collection. I like the G Shock - a no nonsense watch.

And you have a wife that encourages you to buy watches, a rare thing in these parts. Win win!

  27. #27
Not only a well thought out collection of solid pieces...sounds like you have a very understanding wife too.
    Win win i say.

What a nice collection. Remember buying my PO from Earnest Jones in Peterborough, great watches and still love it, they feel so substantial after other watches. Nothing meagre about that collection, I'd be proud of it especially working hard to get it which makes it even more special.

You have a cracking collection there I think. A virtually indestructible G, a stone cold classic Seiko and a gorgeous PO. Nice one. Cracking photo of the PO as well.
