Best 70's & 80's Movie and TV theme music - post here and reminisce

Obviously there are some of the greats, but then there are some of the more obscure or often forgotten bits of title music or themes that really deserve another listen.

I'll go first with an absolute favourite of mine and a bit of a guilty pleasure (I love the movie):

Just listen and dig thse analogue synth power cords:

    Over to you...
So clever my foot fell off.

Tatort (still used btw!) and Hill Street Blues, which with the opening scene made me instantly melancholic.

The soundtrack from "The Hanged Man", a Yorkshire TV series from 1973, is excellent, jazz/funk/rock. I've got it on vinyl and cd, it was written by Alan Tew and performed by Bullet. The full album's on Youtube, here's a taste . . .

Always loved Barry Gray's theme tunes for Gerry Anderson shows, especially UFO.

Just copy the URL, click the little film strip icon, and paste the URL into the box. Takes two seconds.

+1. Where would the shows have been without the genius of Barry Gray? Anderson seemed to have a knack of attracting the right people - yet another of his talents.

UFO also featured Certina watches, the main character Ed Straker wore one in all the episodes. Ed Bishop the actor who played Ed Straker wore the watch until his death in 2005.

Some great suggestions here that bring back a lot of memories from my youth!

Still one of my favourite movies and theme tunes (admittedly originally released 10 years before I was born!)

I was too young to be a fan (although I suspect that I may have been if this was on now!), but I remember this being on and still love the piece of music:

The theme at the end of C.A.T.S. Eyes stayed very clearly in my memory from when I saw it as a kid to searching for it last year, an absolute cracker:

A big favourite of mine, though I dunno if I like it merely because of the series, is the theme to Black Books

A couple of movie soundtracks (not scores, more compilations) from the era that I really like are:

Manhunter (the original Hannibal Lektor movie, directed by Michael Mann & featuring the best use of Iron Butterfly's Inna Gadda Da Vida ever!).

    The Lost Boys.

    Bergerac,
The theme tune has a slightly mysterious-Bluesy feel which I always liked.

Theme from Assault on Precinct 13 - John Carpenter. I used to have it on an album by Mark Shreve. It actually blew my Kef Coda 3s at some point. Fantastic......
