The A team, everyone knows it
Obviously there are some of the greats, but then there are some of the more obscure or often forgotten bits of title music or themes that really deserve another listen.
I'll go first with an absolute favourite of mine and a bit of a guilty pleasure (I love the movie):
Just listen and dig thse analogue synth power cords:
Over to you...
So clever my foot fell off.
The A team, everyone knows it
Best TV theme of all time - Taggart, sung by Maggie Bell.
Benny Hill?
'Against stupidity, the gods themselves struggle in vain' - Schiller.
TV winners are for me :
80s - Miami Vice ; Magnum; Auf Wiedersehen, Pet
70's - The Rockford Files, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads

Someone just mentioned but here it is
M.A.S.H.
Hill St. Blues (Larry Carlton on guitar, also the featured player on the Rockford Files, same composer, Mike Post).
______
Jim.
Tatort (still used btw!) and Hill Street Blues, which with the opening scene made me instantly melancholic.

The soundtrack from "The Hanged Man", a Yorkshire TV series from 1973, is excellent, jazz/funk/rock. I've got it on vinyl and cd, it was written by Alan Tew and performed by Bullet. The full album's on Youtube, here's a taste . . .
F.T.F.A.
Always loved Barry Gray's theme tunes for Gerry Anderson shows, especially UFO.

Gary

Street Hawk
Knight Rider
Air Wolf
+1 for the Rockford Files, also High Chapparal? wasn't too bad.
Why has nobody mentioned The Fall Guy???
UFO also featured Certina watches, the main character Ed Straker wore one in all the episodes. Ed Bishop the actor who played Ed Straker wore the watch until his death in 2005.

Some great suggestions here that bring back a lot of memories from my youth!
Still one of my favourite movies and theme tunes (admittedly originally released 10 years before I was born!)
And another tune that evokes great memories of childhood along with The A-Team:
Amazed no one's mentioned this yet.
Always loved this one too. What a fantastic bass sound!
Cheers,
Gary

Good call Caruso, reminded me of this.

I was too young to be a fan (although I suspect that I may have been if this was on now!), but I remember this being on and still love the piece of music:
The theme at the end of C.A.T.S. Eyes stayed very clearly in my memory from when I saw it as a kid to searching for it last year, an absolute cracker:
A big favourite of mine, though I dunno if I like it merely because of the series, is the theme to Black Books
A couple of movie soundtracks (not scores, more compilations) from the era that I really like are:
Manhunter (the original Hannibal Lektor movie, directed by Michael Mann & featuring the best use of Iron Butterfly's Inna Gadda Da Vida ever!).
The Lost Boys.

Jim.
Bergerac,
The theme tune has a slightly mysterious-Bluesy feel which I always liked.

Theme from Assault on Precinct 13 - John Carpenter. I used to have it on an album by Mark Shreve. It actually blew my Kef Coda 3s at some point. Fantastic......
