    John Lewis discount ?

I’m doubtful, but wondered if anyone has ever managed to negotiate a discount on a watch purchased at John Lewis, Oxford St ?. I’m interested in a Tudor.

    Thanks

Not sure about Tudor, but JL don’t discount on anything in my experience

Well not strictly true. They do have the not knowingly undersold policy meaning they will under certain circs match a legitimate competitor so if you can find it cheaper in a UK bricks and mortar store they may be prepared to match. They won't match just a website price though, has to be like for like.

They wouldn't discount a Mondaine watch I bought for Liz. Then again, I just bought a Samsung washing machine that was £429 that has now gone back up to £729! ... depends on timing sometimes.

Go along with the intent to purchase, ask for 5 or 10% and be ‘almost’ prepared to walk. If you have to capitulate - so be it. It’s not like they will turn you away for trying.

Cheers for the replies, as mentioned you can only ask.
They had the BB 36 in stock, it really appeals.

A lot of ADs are offering 10% on Tudor, perhaps try a couple of others? I know I was offered that when looking at a BB...

Thanks for the offer but I believe the Tudor range isn’t available online at JL.

    Cheers

And, they are sticklers for the like for like. I bought a Panasonic TV from them, got a better price locally, they wouldn’t match like for like. Reason being if you bought Panasonic from JL you got a 5 year warranty, everyone else at the time only offered 3 years.

I think the standard approach is to hit it off with the hottest employee in the store and use their staff discount...

Yeah thanks for that. Just tried it with Tom from the sports department and got a black eye.
