Variety is the Spice of Life

It happened by accident. I had no plans , but my small group of watches...not really a 'collection' ....have ended up spanning all different brands, no repetition. Three came from ADs. New.

    And

Two others acame from Sales Corner. A dangerous place for people like me. But I have met some really nice people.

That's the second CP2 I have had. Bit big, but I missed it.

The next is another watch I sold and missed. Found this one in the window of a local jeweller.

The aim was to get no-date manual winds, but I'very failed, so far, because two are automatics. But only one, the Datejust (!) has a date. Because I change quite often, not having to reset the date is nice. If I have a 'favourite' it's perhaps the gold Omega, nice size at 39mm, and an interesting dial; but ask me tomorrow and it will be different.

You've some lovely watches there Peter. Nearly all on strap, was that by accident or design?

Those are very nice; do you miss the Cellini Prince among their number?

All sold. I like Rolex a lot, but I felt happy to have just one, I just wasn't sure which one. So the two Daytonas have gone, a Submariner went, a Seadweller 4000 (that was particularly daft), a Milgaus GV. Probably some other model...yes, a Day Date a few years ago. All lovely watches. But I never wanted a collection of Rolex models......other brands are more 'risky' (you often lose money) but more fun. The variety.
I probably will get one more Rolex at some point. As i tend to repeat my favourites, it would be a SD 4000 if they weren't so pricey these days. A 43mm would be excellent, but I'm not even on a list.

Goodness, old age has made me daft, I forgot ! Three Cellinis, a Prince and two of the latest versions. So elegant.
I still suspect that the Prince will eventually be recognised as an absolute classic...the last Rolex manual wind, open display back, fabulous workmanship on the one-off movement.
Anyone who bought a Prince at around £5-6K might do very well in a few years. 18 k gold too. Quite a lot of it.

There was a tidy Dornbluth 99.1 for sale a few weeks ago.

That would meet all of your selection criteria.

I think you should post a picture of the IWC movement, for anyone unaware of it's beauty.

Design. I like straps, , the chance of more variety. A common theme for me. But I love the Rolex Jubilee bracelet, and GS seem to be re-introducing some of the older 'beads of rice' steel bracelets, which I also like.

Really nice to see a diverse collection rather than the same watches with different colour bezels.

That's a lovely collection especially the Zenith and GS.

Lovely varied collection. Surprised that you have moved on the WG Daytona.

Any regrets re. any of those you have moved on in the past 12 months?

    Lovely looking collection, Peter.
I particularly like the GO and the Zenith, which reminds me of the limited edition Zenith that they had created on the Watchprosite forum.

Nice collection, I really like that Omega!

Great to see broad taste distributed so well. I think I'm forever condemned to my collection being a series of sports/divers until I hit old age.

A lovely collection you have there . I own one of them (Zenith) and would happily own a few more. I two am a ‘one watch per brand’ type of collector but it’s nice to own a few first so you appreciate the one you ended up with.

Looks wise I prefer the Zenith to the Daytona but appreciate they are worlds apart in desirability. What are your thoughts having owned both?

Really great set Peter. I too miss the CP2 that I bought from you. I sold it onto a friend who has it as his one watch - he loves it! Glad you managed to get another. I perhaps have my eye on the new edition with flyback if I can see it in person.

That IWC is superb!! Love the adjustment leaver.

I don't care to intrude on sales posts so I'll say it here. You're crackers letting that IWC go! ;-)

    IMHO.
