If You Had One Basel World Wish?

Just one! What would it be?

For me it's simple. I'm planning on getting a Tudor Black Bay 36 or 41 later this year. But I'm wrangling over the size. I need to get to an AD to try them on, but something is telling me one will be too small and the other too big. I know from other watches I have that 38mm is the daddy.

So if I had one BW wish it would be for Tudor to announce a 38mm or 39mm BB!

    Any others?

Coffee there is very expensive and appalling quality. Hope that improves this year.

If I had one wish it would be for Rolex to not be present so there was nothing to talk about and every 2nd thread in Watch Talk wasn't about f**king Rolex, their availability or their pricing.

Some sort of limited edition from Omega. They haven't released any of them for a while.

Rolex announce they are doubling production on all steel sports models. Suddenly, they are in every store at retail....and the inflated market collapses the same day.
This is, of course, because I haven't got any at the moment.....

No changes to movement or design in the Rolex Sub, specifically 114060. This is my year to get one and any changes for better or worse will ruin my chances.

Good question. Correctly sized JLC master line, as in days of yore. Something around 37mm.

As to OP: you want the 36BB, it's lovely.

Rolex LV with a green dial and black bezel. Slimmed down lugs would be a bonus.

I'd wish that folk wouldn't get so giddy about it.

Bah humbug! It’s when new watches come out, doesn’t that make it the watch forum equivalent of Christmas? Though I must admit getting excited about it often means disappointment when the dust settles and there’s nothing you genuinely want.

Green dial, black bezel is not an LN. It would be a reverse Kermit.

Yes, this is possible to mod but I would rather not. I like the Hulk but the bezel colour is not my favourite.

Rolex would have supply of parts for this to be an offering too.

They do a YG GMT2C with green dial and black bezel with gold accents. So something along these lines for steel.

I get what you mean, I'm just being a pedant. LV means Lunette Verte - Bezel Green. Hulks and Kermits are both LVs because they both have green bezel, it has nothing do with dial colour.

If they manufactured it with a black bezel they would most likely offer it the reference LN, Lunette Noir, Bezel Black.

Edit to say: The YG GMT you mention with green dial and black bezel is 116718LN - Lunette Noir.

I like most things Tudor have done, but I'd like to see the black bay black with smiley face return.

Or a Tudor sub, pref in blue since used prices have gotten a bit silly

It used to be nice when there was the possibility that you could see a watch you liked and have a reasonable chance of buying at list within a sensible timescale.

    I'll be more specific:

    max lug to lug: 49mm
    max diameter: 40mm
    max height: 13mm

    All watches, no exceptions.

Having shown my wife the photoshopped explorer 1 with white dial, this. She fell in love with it, and in 2021 turns 40....which might just give me enough time for Rolex to make enough of them for me to get one.

Ah the joyous wait should they launch it for price increase after price increase as I wait to buy lol.

3 handed (with date) Zenith El Primero movement watch.

Basically, bring back the Espada but maybe simplify it to look like a Captain Elite or similar.

I have a second and third wish for Basel. IWC to go back to Gerald Genta Ingenuirs like the 3227 rather than the boring ones they make now and IWC to look at its back catalogue for Aquatimers particularly the old 2000m bunds that were designed by Porsche

You know what, I think this is actually feasible some years down the line. Lemania is owned by Swatch Group and since a re-release like that would cater to enthusiasts, it would require minimal marketing and brand positioning, and I bet they could sell at least as many as Zenith could when they put out the De Luca, and for at least as much money. Furthermore, I can't imagine there not being demand for the range of 5100-derived movements if Swatch chose to supply them to outside customers as well once they tool up for making them again ... I really do think this idea make sense, and if the market remains as saturated as it has been in recent years, manufacturers will have to finally make some real effort to give the customers what they want.
