What income should you have to afford a Luxury Watch?

How much money do you need in the bank to justify spending 4K on a watch, without it being stupid to do so. ?

The ability to afford it. Totally depends on circumstances. Putting a figure on it is totally impossible one mans figure of affordability could be another just getting by.

Also depends on the resale of the watch. There are watches you can lose a mass amount just by leaving the AD wearing it. And others you can buy knowing if you need to cash in for an emergency you won’t take a hit.

Strange question your asking, if you can afford it buy it, if you can't then don't.

    Mr Pateklover

If you are skint with no income and want to raise £4k to buy a watch, you could try putting the wife on the game. However she may do the sensible thing and leave you.

You would then have no money, no income and no wife. Better to remain as you are.

Income is irrelevant unless you are stupid enough to take a loan out to buy a watch. Savings are what's required to buy it.

Measure the importance of owning a watch of your choosing. Only you can answer that question.

As long as your food, shelter, clothing + medical coverage and basic transportation needs are met, how you opt to spend your disposable income is strictly your own business.

Spending 4K on a watch is stupid, no matter how much money you have. It is much wiser to spend 5K.

Come on. Give the guy a break. To the OP, to get your post count up, it attracts less flak to just quietly comment on other peoples threads than start them. I know. I've been there.

I was probably £1k overdrawn but that didn't stop me spending £3k on a watch and buying a brand new car.

My bank manager still loves me, slightly regretting not spending more.

And he’d be right. As he very often was.

There's a simple indicator. If you have the required amount of disposable income available and in your account, then you can buy whatever you want.

    Life pro tip.

A broken watch is right twice a day every day.

Which magazine suggests 3 to 6 months wage in the bank to cover unexpected employment.

after you have bought the watch of course.

With the UK average take home pay of between £2-3k per month, do not think I would be splashing the cash on watches if my savings were only £6-18k but I suppose it depends on your comfort level.

I'm sure many forum members followed my path of mortgage-free 5-bed executive home on a gated-estate in Surrey, a lovely cottage in Italy with own olive grove, trophy wife 20 years my junior, one of the last air-cooled Porsche 911s then an 5119 Calatrava in yellow gold.

Why don`t you give us the benefit of YOUR opinion when you start these threads? Do you actually have an opinion?

If you need to ask this question the answer in your case is likely to bbe obvious.

I don`t see what you're trying to gain by starting these threads..........there's definitely a pattern developing here and it's getting a bit boring to put it mildly.
