In case anyone hasn't seen it, Hodinkee has just released a Talking Watches with Roger Smith interviewed by Jack Forster instead of Ben Clymer. Pretty good

Thank you. Really enjoyable interview. I aspire to own a Roger Smith, now that George Daniels is no more (so prices have skyrocketed). Not sure I’d ever achieve it though.
I always enjoy listening to his talks.
There's a seven part You Tube series on case making that's very good too.
Starts here..

There's another interview with him here: https://www.acollectedman.com/pages/...tches-for-sale
Really enjoyable episode... I’d love to know more (as Forster touched upon) about what actually makes a good movement run well.
I enjoyed that a lot - thanks.
Fascinating to hear more about Daniels and the Co-Axial, plus an amazing collection of watches.
I'd wholly agree with the recommendation for Smith's YouTube videos - insightful learning from a guy who clearly has a rare understanding of watchmaking from raw material to finished product.
I like how the case making starts off in such a basic fashion and ends up with such a thing of beauty.
F.T.F.A.
Was a lovely video (and Jack is much better than Ben for anything actually watch related) and always find it interesting the reasons why Roger doesn't wear one of his own, guess he'll wait until to make one when he's retired! After the like of Dufour he really is brilliant in his craft.
I wasn't aware of this series and will be checking it out!
Probably worth getting in quick on this one, as they tend to move fast (given the waiting list):
https://www.acollectedman.com/produc...-od-white-gold
"This pre-owned, hand-made, open-dial, white gold Roger W. Smith Series 2 is one of the smallest "production watches" in the world, with fewer than seventy examples created to date. If not rare enough, less than a dozen open-dial executions have been delivered so far. This piece was delivered in early 2017."
Smith talks a lot of sense and gives a very balanced view on things - would love to chat to him at the pub. Also very cool PP x GD movement piece.
Thanks for posting this. Interesting story about having to sell his first watch.
Looks like Roger has traded in this caliber 321 watch:

for a caiber 321 'Ed White'
Personally I think the original watch is better looking, although a vintage Speedy is always cool.
