Thread: Well I really didn’t mean to come home with this!

Well I really didn’t mean to come home with this!

Well today I was just suppose to be helping my wife’s friend negotiate on a watch for her husband’s 50th birthday. This guy is a one watch guy and she wants him to have something special. Well...as we were in the midst of discussions I mentioned that I saw what was a grail watch for me in the window and one thing led to another and we both left after a deal we were both very happy with.

    So what did I get?

    Nice box

    What another box!

    Hmm...German loveliness

That dial is a lovely blue

It’s backside is pretty good too!

    Still more surprises

Tool for the deployant clasp as it is secured to the strap by a little screw

    And a little bag!

Oh and the watch my friend brought for her husband was a new model Omega Aqua Terra in blue. Very lovely in real life with a nice sunburst effect on the dial

Plus I still have 2 Seiko Monsters winging their way to me as well. The wife is not going to be pleased!

Properly jealous! A PanoReserve or PanoMaticLunar is on my radar as next purchase (once I've sold off everything else I own haha!)

Very attractive; I am growing to like GO. About time their owners, Swatch, really got behind them. So much potential.
They get accused of copying ALS, but as both come from the same Saxon design traditions, in the same small town, that's rather unfair. And being offered in steel, unlike ALS, the prices are more reasonable

Absolutely perfect. A blue Panoreserve is right up there in the top one or two of my list and has been for a while. Interesting strap choice - I've only ever seen them come on blue leather or a blue nubuck.

Did you see or try one on the bracelet? Doesn't seem like a popular choice but I'd like to try it on one.

If she’s anything like mine, she won’t.
That’s worth the pain though. Love the dial.

Here is a much simpler GO. It uses their new 'type 36' movement, which will apparently be the basis for some new designs. Not as complicated as the lovely Panoreserve, but it has it's own charms....

Must admit, they do offer a nice selection of models, especially in the 'vintage' range. Shame Swatch don't get them in more stores. They just don't seem to bother with GO in the UK.

I like the little pouch. Should be perfect for storing the OP's knackers in after the wife's cut them off when she finds out another non pre-approved purchase has gone through.

As I get older, my eyesight is fading quite quickly.

The grande date function is superb for those of us who cannot read a regular dial without glasses.

    A beautiful watch !
