Anyone see the combined skiing? Marcel Hirscher is such a legend, makes everyone else look like amateurs.

Explains how he's so fast on the flats, then

He is an amazing skiier, but as with Shiffrin in the Women's (and Vonn in the past), too much dominance isn't good for any sport.

Anyway, GB are winning the Slalom Gold, so Hirscher will need that Combined one

    I can dream!

Shaun Whites pipe run was epic.

Yep I'll be keeping everything crossed for Dave the Rocket Ryding on Thursday 22nd in the Men's slalom, I'd so love to see Dave win a medal, on his best form he's one of the only athletes capable of mixing it with Hirscher. Kristofferson is good too, but I like to watch him get beaten and throw his toys out the pram!

    Come on team GB!

Let's hope the wind has eased down by then, it's madness there today!

Or maybe it's an advantage when you are British :)

    BAM! Another gold medal!

Tonight the skeleton tournament. Watch Akwasi Krimpong, Ghana. He has a Dutch passport as well but the Dutch Olympic committee wouldn't endorse his plan to become the first Dutch athlete on the skeleton piste. So he went to the US, found a place to train in the Rocky Mountains with a US coach and is now, on his own, Team Ghana.

His chances for a medal are very, very small. But like Eddy the Eagle in days past, Akwasi deserves our respect!

Watched it earlier today - it's like aerial gymnastics! Drama right to the end, kind of felt sorry for the Japanese chap who was knocked from the top step however that last run from the American was spectacular.

What the heck happened to Kramer????

Technically still a Dutch gold medal though, right?

TJ has a Canadian dad and a Dutch mom. He used to skate for Holland but got fed up with the rigid selection system. He changed colours and the rest is history. What happened with Kramer? No idea at the moment, but stay tuned: this very moment, Kramer tells a reporter that he doesn't feel as good as during the 5K km. We watched him going downstairs twice before the race; not something he normally does. Toilet? He tells the reporter that he wasn't able to skate faster than he did.

The #2: Bergsma is originally an ultra long distance speed skater (100 or 200 km races) and is currently Dutch ultra long distance speed skater champion.

I'll be busy with my livestream at work from 13:30 CET, 1500m Ladies speedskating.

Middleclass my arse, skating can be done by everyone in Holland, an old jeans, pair of skates and a woolly jumper are all you need. Skates can be rented as well. Fun for everybody.
I managed some outdoor skating in Vlissingen many years ago on a borrowed a pair of skates. It was an unforgettable experience.

And another one: gold. Esmee Visser, 20 y/o. 5k ladies speed skating. Never been outside Europe, never won a big tournament and now a gold medal.

At the same time: the first ever Dutch skeleton dare devil Kimberley Bos finished 8th in the first run. Better than she has ever done before. 3 runs to go.

Well, that certain gold on the 10.000m for Sven Kramer became a shock silver yesterday, I'm still not over it.

But T.J. Flowers really deserved it.

Now, is it going to be a first gold for the UK in the skeleton event?

I’ve been laid up in bed with full on man flu for the last two days and it’s been a god send tbh. I wouldn’t normally watch it otherwise. I’m even starting to understand curling.

According to the history on Skeleton on the international website, it appears to be an English invention! So... c'mon boys and girls... Like teamGB did and does when it comes to (track) cycling on the Olympics, it's possible to dominate winter sport for years to come!

That’s got to have been two blokes in a pub at the top of hill and it’s starts snowing. After a few pints let try this.

^^^ this ^^^ These new sports always start with the words: "Here, hold my beer while..."

Btw, 2 blokes... that must be Doubles Luge. I always feel uncomfortable when I watch Doubles Luge.

As kids we used to use cardboard in the summer. When the grass was dry you could really get some speed up.

The trick was getting stopped before you hit the dry stone wall at the bottom of the hill!

    Oh those were the days.

On grass in the summer and snow in the winter. For added spice the field we use to do that on had an active railway line the other side of the wall.

Indeed. When classic alpine skying still requires ‘being born into it’, i.e. coming from countries with proper slopes and snow, slope style can be practiced away from mountains on standard, artificial obstacles which give other countries a much better chance at chasing medals.

Dutch short track skater Sjinkie is out... Someone noted: 'Given his attitude off-track and on-track, I think his biggest opponent is Sjinkie himself'. That could be true. The urge to win is sooo big...

    The Korean was sensational.

For me the biggest news was in the Super G. The Czech snowboarder winning the Alpine Super G. Bless she could hardly believe it. Such an unbelievable achievement. Loved the reaction of the Austrian skier who was basically already celebrating, oops!

Same woman could potentially be in Tokyo in 2 years time, windsurfing for Czech Republic.

We've won gold three years on the trot in that event and was on the podium for the two before that as well, it can't all be about the suits.
