These always seem to me less a predictions list and more a wishlist. I therefore predict more gaudy baubles that nobody here would want but wish for a stainless steel Pepsi GMT, a slimmer and more refined explorer 2 in the fashion of the previous one and a time only oyster perpetual with a new 32xx movement.

On the plus side I suppose at least these watches will last and may actually look better as time goes by and the lugs are refinished to remove dings, a bit like the lume ageing gracefully in older models.
How about increasing size to 41mm and tapering the lugs? So bigger but still smaller than SD, and tapering. Overall watch would wear roughly the same by area but shifting slightly back to classic shape without going all the way

I think it's fair to say that modern Rolex design has one key criteria, to produce watches that advert 'Rolex' when on the wrist. So they won't get smaller or more subtle .....rather the opposite. Pity really but Rolex know the modern market, and showiness sells.

I sincerely hope the other models don't follow the Explorer 2 with the weight gain.

Looking forward to the 47mm Deepsea Challenge that will see the light of day. This will see the demise of the Deep Blue.

I have that from a good source

Surely no one would mad over an Explorer 2 with a graduated dial?

I’m not sure that would aid the spelunker in his profession (cave exploring)

They are going to release a brand new sub, it will look exactly the same as last years sub but it will be 1mm different!! Awesome!

Every year Rolex has the most expensive boring predictable display. There are far more interesting and impressive designs in other halls.

...and you've hit the secret of their success!

On the Sub issue, the Sub was bigger than the SDc 4k so could a new sub be bigger than the SD43??

I think Rolex used to make a couple of models fitting this description? I’d hedge your bet and put some money in the opposite direction too.

I think the black dial, black bezel version of the Explorer II is rather nice and the Explorer II really should have had a fixed steel bezel with black insert years ago.

Possibly something that utilises a new date display mechanism? http://www.patentsencyclopedia.com/i...20160048107_01

I'd love to see Rolex return to the smaller cases/lugs, aluminium inserts, lugholes and plain rehaut - it's never going to happen though :-(

I'd potentially be a new buyer if they did, having missed the boat back in the day - but I'll never be a buyer of the new and *cough* improved designs! I doubt they'll miss my pennies though :-/

Interesting concept, but wouldn't the size limit possible positions on a dial? Perhaps not in the most practical place, unless Skydweller esque, where it it is centralised at the 6 o'clock position, or in a cluttered chrono dial??

So I think what I’m seeing is a big date complication and I think the first time Rolex has used such a thing.

And I agree with you - where on the dial would this be located?

According to the schematic, it would probably be just above the centre of the dial

I'd be asking for a discount. A ceramic insert won't turn a TT Daytona into a hot commodity.

Milgauss and DSSD gone.. both too similar to the Airking and new SD which are cheaper.

New dial options for the 39mm OP.

New complication for the Cellini range.. possibly a cool annual calendar.

New movement in the Sub, but it'll look just the same.

New ceramic bezel for the gold GMT... maybe the 'blueberry option'... dark blue and light blue combo.

Long shot new colour for the SS GMT too.

What I'd like to see ... gold option for the Datejust, similar to the Daydate, and the Easylink or Glidelock clasp fitted throughout the range.

Why exactly is the Airking cheaper than the Milgauss? It's the same watch with an uglier dial and a brushed case.

Its a prestige thing, also they invested heavily in development and the testing equipment etc... Perhaps an update of some sort? New movement and modified case or similar... Cant see it being discontinued personally but who knows.

I can see the JC Deep Sea going, the standard black dial being the norm.

If they put the new movement in it along with the Submariner they’d then have the full three diving watches updated and done, a nice little marketing opportunity for them.

I only wonder if they do, they’ll get rid of the single red on the Sea Dweller?

I suspect/hope we will see the further spread of the Oysterflex 'bracelet'... given it started off in the rose gold Yachtmaster, and then the PM Daytonas, perhaps either the SS Yachtmaster or a GMT of some sort? Possibly the Seadweller 43 in a few years... I think they will want to keep the Submariner on the Oyster bracelet whatever happens given the iconic nature of that combination.

Would like to see more GMTs, perhaps a SS black/green bezelled one, or finally a rose gold GMT? Not sure what the bezel colours would be then? Just black?

A black/green GMT on the Oysterflex would be a really great watch, I feel.

Suspect the new movement will be put into the Submariner, interesting question is whether there will be any other changes to the Sub. Hope they keep it at 40mm and revert to the traditional lug shape, but we will see...

    Red submariner

I do wonder just how tempted Rolex are to reintroduce the red text on the Submainer. Could be one way to differentiate the new movement Sub from the current.

Would really like to see the return to non PCL on the GMT. Coke or Pepsi Gmt with fully brushed bracelet, who is on going on the AD list for that one!

The explorer 11 and Milgauss must be the two sports which are most under threat for a makeover.

Yes, the Sub would then be in harmony with the SD. Mind you, you could argue the other way, and say that they would want the red text to differentiate the SD from the Sub (for the time being at least), given the SD only came out last year.

I'd probably brush the PCL of any Daytona/GMTc that I bought, so whilst I prefer a brushed finish, I don't really see it as a negative given how easily it can be 'fixed'.

Agree re: Exp II and Milgauss... I see the Milgauss maybe being discontinued in favour of the (almost identical, and much cheaper) Air-King, with the Air-King being the time only sports watch with youthful dials (I expect to see a new AK dial or two soon, hopefully an Air-King Date at some point?). Then maybe another Milgauss some years down the line with a new anti-magnetic movement a la Omega?

I think the Exp II would sell better at 40mm... would be a very desirable watch then. Mind you, many prefer a >40mm watch... I just don't think Rolexes suit going above that size.

Green crystal, PCLs and I think the Airking has the simpler clasp without Easylink.
