Thread: Advice on Datejust Lady fake?

    Advice on Datejust Lady fake?

So a guy I know come up to me the other day at work saying he had a fake Rolex, he showed it to me as he knew I was into watches. All I really know is that its a Datejust lady 26mm, it seems old, grubby and a bit battered. The crown is broken and the bracelet is stretched to hell (and feels really cheap). The second hand does sweep, and details match with ones I can see pics of on the net. The "Swiss Made" text seems a bit off. The gold also seems to have worn of the centre of the bracelet, am I right in thinking this would be solid gold not plated on a genuine item?
I have never handled a Rolex and this does seem to have some age about it so 1% of me is curious so, I didn't think it would harm asking the opinions of people on here with much more knowledge than me.

I'm really not sure what you're asking.
My opinions include (but are not limited to):
    • it's a fake
    • he knows it's a fake
    • they exist
    • it's not worth spending any money on
    • he should not take it into one of Haywood Milton's shops and try to sell it. Not even as a joke.

Looks completely fake to me - crown looks the wrong size, plating coming off the bezel and bracelet, hands and lume don’t look right either.

As I suspected then and he did! He volunteers at the british heart foundation and its where it came in. The manager said it was a fake and obviously couldn't be sold in the shop, he took it away just to show me and laugh about. Partly why I put it on here 99% of me was sure it was a fake, but 1% of me wondered as like I say I've never handled a Rolex.

I'll make sure it receives a quick death!

I'm no Rolex expert and there are some incredible fakes around - that is at the other end of the scale though!

Even to a non-experienced eye it is so cheap looking he must have known??

Oh he knew! He said straight away that it was a fake. I just thought whacking a few pics up for some forum fun, opinions would be worth 10mins on a boring Friday morn at work

So someone put this in to a charity shop thinking that it could be sold in the shop?

So with the TZ-UK Jury finding the defendant guilty, I had to hand out the maximum penalty as judge and executioner

Actually…looking closer at it now, I think that might be the really rare ‘white lady’ DateJust! Less than 150 were ever made, as it was a manufacturing error in Bienne.

    Worth tens of thousa…

    Oh. Never mind.
