    Uniqlo Cashmere...............washing!

Whilst in London last week I bought Mrs b4w a cashmere sweater, as you do.

However it no needs washing and I just thought a wool wash would be the way to go, but no.

    Dry clean only.

Obviously not not going to get it dry cleaned every time she wears it so any advice on hand washing or otherwise would be gratefully received.

Handashing Cashmere. In a word, don't.
Hand washing saturates the item and wringing it dry stretches it as does a gentle spin.
Laying it flat to dry does strange things to the shape due to the fibres getting seperate during the wash.
Only thing really is to bite the bullet and get it dry cleaned.
    Hope that helps.

Tell her not to dribble her food down it and get it dry cleaned once every couple of months.

You can buy cashmere wash but I've always washed mine in liquid soap on a wool wash programme. have a look at cashmere washing instructions for other brands

Ballantyne were/are a major player in cashmere. have a look at Berk of Burlington Arcade and see what they say about care

Why would you wash a jumper after every wear? Underpants , t shirts , shirts , socks yes . But jumpers , trousers etc don’t need it . Hell I have a pair of jeans I haven’t washed before at all and they’re 12 months old plus.

She's a bugger for getting make up around the neck, it's a polo neck.

I have some Timberland jumpers I have never washed. Mainly as the wife would nuke them in the machine. But they've never needed it and no they don't smell either!

Standard practice to not wash a pair of selvedge jeans for minimum 6 months. Stick them in the freezer for 24 hours to freshen up if needs be.

I've tried using this with some of my wool suits and it seems to just freshens them up with some fragrance. I think you need to manually rub out any grime prior to running the dryer as per the packet.

Not sure why I would want to buy it again as I could just as easily buy some air freshener to spray my clothes and alcohol rub to clean the stains? Any enlightened folks care to share some light?

Wool contains natural antimicrobials so doesn’t need washing every wear. I alternate two jumpers througn7 months of the year and wash once a year. They don't smell.

The make-up thing is the problem in this thread though. So perhaps less makeup and more care might be the answer?

My sumsung washing machine has a "refresh" setting. No water wash involved.

Takes 30 minutes and works very well on Cashmere.

Interesting, I have a Samsung washing machine. Will have a look at the settings.
