That’s a lady’s Datejust. A little treat to yourself after the operation? Congratulations; we are a liberal, all-inclusive bunch here. If you stick around you will find extraordinary examples of equal opportunity in the Bear Pit.

Still waiting to hear what you paid for your watch, if you will share that please...
Big bezel diamondz will pad out the size a smidgen 🤩

And you can see the character whom Pat is pretending to be just saying “my Rolex”, but when asked which (he’s new to this remember, he might like a diamondy bez, a friend had to tell him where you can buy a “top end” watch) he doesn’t say “Datejust” - he’s straight into the six digits like a good ’un.

You don’t have to be Lootennant Columbo to work out all is not as it seems.

Still, I wouldn’t let something like this put me off buying from Jonathan Greeves Jewellers.

Pat's hardly the only person shamelessly advertising their watch outlet on the forum.

Who else are you thinking of shamelessly touting there watch outlet, other than that Platts chap, he’s as shameless as you like...

Though I heard that Jonathan Greeves Jewellers can supply Rolex at 25% discount*

*For second hand low demand lady’s watches and perhaps some Casio models

We have a number of significant watch dealers here: among them Mike, Jason, MarcJ, Kerry, Seth, at least one main Rolex / Tudor agent and a host including this correspondent for whom watches are a part of a wider business. Shouldn't we be delighted that they are all a part of this forum?

I think all of the above who participate in tz-uk do so because they enjoy their watches. They provide a worthwhile contribution to the forum, bringing additional insight or persepective which for me sits entirely comfortably alongside the watchmakers, collectors and other varieties of social misfit who comprise our total.

Here, perhaps more so than on any other forum, dealers invite trouble if they are not generally helpful or "shamelessly advertise" their business. I don't doubt that our host would provide summary justice where he felt it deserved! Conversely, if dealers are transparent in what they are and try generally to support the forum and its members, where is the harm in their engagement? Does the mix of contributors and depth of experience here explain why tz-uk sees the volume of traffic it does, where other fora seem to have been left for dead by the InstaTwits?

We're all big boys and can discuss this without getting upset. Which member(s) do you consider to be "shamelessly advertising" on the forum?

I don't see what's wrong with anyone "shamelessly" advertising themselves as long as they restrict it to a few plugs.

They may be good or they may be bad but one day they just might have something you want.

Isn't it just. Up-Westers taking selfies with their fizzy wine.

Anyway, fake reviews - can anyone be so oblivious when the internet has been around for twenty five years?

    Arthur or Martha, indeed!

You will note the earlier post, though, which seemed to show the same hand going by the name "Mr. Sharpe."

Whilst this thread seems to have been started as just an advert by all accounts, I don't think all traders/dealers should suffer because of it. I think there are some pretty decent dealers and watch repair guys on here who are as interested in watches as we are and only too willing to help members. I like that there is a lot of knowledge available through some of these guys who are not afraid to share it.

The jeweller sourced my Rolex and it was 25% less than any other watch dealer or jeweller i could fine. Even cheaper than duty free in Dubai.
Outstanding service and I highly reccommend this jewellers.
I'm baffled why people go to the big branded places and get ripped off!
So, a cursory glance at the slew of 5 Star Google reviews include these two at the top

Great shop in the city of London. We purchased my engagement ring here. Service was excellent, they are very knowledgeable. We searched so many different jewellers over the past few months and this jewellers beat them all on price and quality.
This shop got very busy at lunchtime so maybe try to avoid these hours! Other than that we cant reccommend enough. Great!"

Fantastic job restoring my antique diamond watch and diamond ring. The watch is now in perfect working order, looks good as new. I was reccommended to this shop by my colleagues and I couldn't be happier with the service and price.
If you want to disguise your identity I "reccommend" a spellchecker.

Ha! What a good spot - I wonder if there’s a facility to report this to Google...

Thought I revived this as I just had a strange conversation with them..

“I would like a link removed on my bracelet please”

    “Is it real?”

    “Yes..of course”

“Well, that would be £25 then...”

I left and popped in to Watches of Switzerland instead and the nice chap did if for free in a couple of minutes.

How is it relevant if it's real? Job is the same...

That made me laugh! It’s hardly going to be an imaginary bracelet else I guess the watch would fall off.
