    Robinson Crusoe watch

Robinson Crusoe spent 28 years stranded on his island. If you could have given him a watch which would you choose?

Would have to be a Breitling Emergency of course!

Well apart from the above “rescue me” watch, I’d have either a 5600 G Shock solar atomic, or a 9F Seiko, and a few spare batteries.
It's just a matter of time...

Batteries have a shelf life which may not last for the duration.

    Suggestions:

G-shock mudman (solar/atomic version) - any non-solar battery powered would run down well before the enforced stay.

Of course the Breitling Emergency (new version) has the digital and analog rescue frequencies so you could get International Rescue (Thunderbirds are Go) help anywhere in the world.

If going mechanical - it would have to be hard as nails - maybe Rolex 11600 or 116600 as that has adjustable bracelet when malnutrition kicks in.

    Or go old skool -
Put a stick in the sand and mark off the hours as a sun-dial. The shortest shadow length would be at local noon-time (approximately - as you need 'equation of time' look-up tables packed with you, you did pack them right??).
Added advantage - you could amuse yourself trying to calculate your latitude based on the shortest shadow of the stick - if you're at the equator there is no shadow - and you could even work out what day it is! and so on.
