Thread: Question for the resident watchmakers.

  1. #1

    Question for the resident watchmakers.

What could cause a movement (eta 2824) that had previously been keeping good time to lose over a minute in 24hrs then, after being reset, go back to keeping very good time. This happened around two months ago and the watch has been working perfectly fine since.

Running in a low state of wind. The timekeeping can fall off alarmingly if the watch is running with very low amplitude.

Another possibility is that the watch stopped then restarted, caused by an intermittent fault. If that’s happened it will happen again.

    Thanks Paul,

I’ll continue to keep an eye on it and if it happens again I’ll need to get it looked at. As I said though, it’s been fine for the past 2 months so hopefully just a one off.

I have random watches that lose or gain one hour in however long it takes me to realize what a "Stupid Boy" I've been.
