    SUBMARINER WITH WHITE FACE ?

    Good Morning the Forum
Help please. Do Rolex make or sell Submariner watches with white faces.
I have never seen one yet but an acquaintance has shown me his new Rolex
It is a submariner with a white face. It has the circular holograph green sticker on the back
but it is difficult to decipher what if anything the holograph writing is

I'd love to see a picture of this. Is it like this fake one...

Not Rolex themselves. There are some companies that modify Subs etc so could be that, or a truly terrible fake!

This watch is not of Rolex manufacture, in whole or significant part.

If it has a hologram on the back, and it's new, then it's fake. They haven't used the hologram for many years (over 10).

& Rolex have never sold a white face Submariner.

It could have been an Explorer II, but unless really old stock having a hologram on the back would scream fake.

I wouldn't trust anything on there anymore, and if made by Rolex was out commercially available?
It's just a matter of time...

I was wondering what actually makes this 35 year old dealer a world renound authority. Flying halfway around the world doesn't change the authenticity of something.

I’m tempted to say “attention to detail.” If he was 32 in 2011.... and what is this “renound?”

Eric is extremely well respected at the top end of vintage Rolex collecting / dealing. He is the owner of VRF and his own watch business is http://www.10pastten.com - have a look at the type of rare watches in which he specialises.

We know Rolex made some odd, white dial versions of other models.

I don’t believe Eric has ever been sued by an aggrieved millionaire who believes he has been sold one or more bad watches. While I would share mixed thoughts about Hodinkee, I don’t think I would question Eric’s status.

Well, I’m sure their are some anomalies and obscure pieces in a lot of brand’s histories - but most of those pieces were not commercially available.

All the same it’s nice to see the odd rarity.

I’m fairly confident that that isn’t the white dial Submariner that the OP is referring to though.

    I'm certain it's not!
