The new rotor seems to match the rest of the movement better than the old one (circular stripes, colour of lettering).
Chronology...
2005...Purchased.
2007...Given to my son.
2015...Exchanged it for my nearly new Sub Date.
2015...Serviced by Duncan at Genesis who noticed that the rotor was defective, Zenith
at that time were out of stock.
The rotor had been rattling for some time, my son said as long as he had had it, and
it was also stopping over night.
When gently shaken the rotor could be heard to rattle and when viewed with a 10x loupe magnifier through the display
back the edge of the rotor could be seen to move axially as the watch was tilted.
However, Duncan said the rotor was not rubbing on either the case back or movemen
Since I bought the watch the rotor decoration has changed to Geneva stripes in a circular pattern, I think I prefer the old design.

Looking good Dave. old rotor looked nice but have to agree the new one suits it better.

Shame, old rotor was beautiful, new one seems a bit bland compared. Stunning watch.
Surprised the rotor bearing couldn’t be replaced separately, it looks like it should come out easily.
Provided they get lubricated every few years a ball race bearing should last a long long time.

I also prefer the old rotor, for some reason it just looks more substantial.

I do love a zenith :-) Must say I agree the new rotor doe seem to be more in keeping with the rest of the movement. I am now reminiscing on my 40mm Chronomaster El Primero Moonphase I used to own in rose gold with guilloche dial, it was such a lovely watch :-)
Very interesting. I am having trouble with my Zenith Elite and wonder if it is similarly afflicted.
For what it's worth, I prefer the old design but think the new design is more in keeping with the rest of the movement. Lovely watch all the same.
Either way its a lovely looking watch, although I think I prefer the new one.
