One day before too long, the experience of visiting the Moon, or even of leaving low Earth orbit, will not exist in human memory.

Wow, 20 hours plus walking on the moon, 34 days in space. One of the many quiet people who made space exploration possible.

    RIP.

Really sad to hear of his death, but wow, what a life he had.

I was born in 1969, and spent my youth obsessed with the Apollo program. I even met Neil Armstrong in somewhat surreal circumstances when I was a sprog.

I'm 50 next year, and plan to mark the milestone with a period Speedmaster.

"First Shuttle flight" is remarkable...but how about "First manned Gemini flight" in 1965? That was quite a career.

It is a sad fact that there are now only five men still alive who have walked on the moon.
